Vick OK for Indy; Rapmaster Andy

POSTED: Tuesday, October 26, 2010, 5:50 PM

Eagles quarterback Michael Vick said he is at 90-95 percent right now and will be at 100 percent for the game against Indianapolis on Nov. 7.

"Throwing the ball has been the toughest thing," Vick said during his weekly radio appearance with Tony Mercurio on ESPN 94.1-FM in Virginia. "I think I made great strides last week, just getting my range of motion back and working on my accuracy. Things have finally come back full circle. I feel good again and am ready to play some football."

Vick said he and Andy Reid spoke yesterday afternoon about him starting against the Colts.

"He told me to get ready to go,  'let’s rock and roll.' That’s our term. I’m very excited about the opportunity and looking to pick up where I left off."

Undoubtedly, ESPN also is looking forward to the next chapter in the Birds' quarterbacking drama. In case you missed it, a video of the autotuned mashup from their pregame show Sunday, featuring Rapmaster Andy laying down the beats, is imbedded at the bottom of this post for your viewing pleasure.

Vick said he will spend the bye week watching film and getting ready for the Colts because “now I know how important preparation is.”

"It’s a totally different feeling when you’re the starter," he said. "You know you have to be prepared. You want to go into the game almost knowing that nothing will surprise you. That’s the way I like to gear myself up and play a football game … Everything is not going to be perfect. There are going to be highs and lows. At the end of the day, you have to be resilient and overcome adversity."

Vick and his teammates reviewed the film of the loss to Tennessee yesterday.

"We only beat ourselves and we know that … we had Tennessee on the ropes," he said. "We made some mistakes and let the game slip away. We can’t do that. When we get a team down, we have to make sure we keep pressing to keep them down. It’s tough. We’re all very upset and hurt about what happened yesterday because we know we had that game in the bag."

With the Giants win last night, the top of the NFC East is bunched up, although no one has emerged as a dominant team in the NFC.

"Nobody wants to lose games in this league," Vick said. "We’re not going through anything different than what the other great quarterbacks who have come before us have gone through. It’s going to a be challenge. You have to stand tall. You have to step up to the plate. That’s what this league is all about. You find out a lot about yourself playing this game. We’ll find out a lot about yourself on Nov. 7 … You have to look forward to it. It’s going to be a great game."

Asked about DeSean Jackson's availability for Indianapolis, Vick said, "You see him walking around, he looks like he’s making a great recovery. He’s optimistic that he’ll play. We just have to play it by ear.”

Reid said on his radio show last night that Jackson has passed concussion testing for team head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder and now will be examined by an independent doctor before he can be cleared.

Some reading material this morning;

Former Eagle Shawn Andrews' interest in music is profiled in the New York Times. You might recall that Andrews, now a member of the Giants, was criticized for "getting his Michael Phelps on" while he was sidelined with back issues.

“Sometimes, I wouldn’t even eat, I’d be so excited to get in the studio,” said Andrews, who waits until his 2-year-old son, JaShawn, is asleep before hurrying off to work on his music. “I’d be in the studio from like 3 p.m. until 7 a.m. the next day because it’s fun. The amount of time I spent in there, if I’ve spent 12 hours in there, it feels like 30 minutes has gone by.”

Nice piece on Eagles seventh-rounder Kurt Coleman, an Ohio State product, in the university newspaper in Columbus. "I have been having a lot of fun out here, and it's been a very good season so far," he said. "It's a fun team and a fun atmosphere and a fun city to be in."

Finally, an excellent Monday piece from BountyBowl, posted on Igglesblog. Still really miss when Bounty had his own gig, he is funny and insightful.

peyton manning and the colts will smoke the birds if conVick plays,he does not keep the offense on the field for long drives,KK manages the game better and has had a lot of long time consuming drives this season,,that's the only way to beat the colts and PM.....wolf.

Manages the game better? By under throwing our deep threats everytime he throws down the field over 30 yards? The best cornerback on the field this past Sunday was Riley Cooper! Get over it wolfenstein, Vick is the QB that gives us the best chance to win. When Kolb goes to Cleveland, I hope you join him. By the way, with all your betting I hope you don't actually use real money, because by my calculations you'd be about $1,000,000 in the hole for this season alone.

bleedgreen didn't hear you whining two weeks ago you're a front runner, you're not looking at the Big picture,,KK absolutley manages the game better and KK's 83 yard BOMB to Maclin INTO the Wind against the first place Falcons we didn't hear you complaining about that,KK's not going to be player of the game every week,my calculations had the birds beating the NINERS and the Falcons and KK winning NFC player of the week,i didn't hear you complain about that,,conVick has a better chance to going to jail then to the SuperBowl-book it,i hope you join him.LOL.my man.....wolf.

Kurt Coleman has really made a name for himself this year with late hits and unsportsmanlike calls. He's got to be a little more selective in channelling his rage and he'll be a nice piece.

Vick only beat TWO AWFUL LAST PLACE TEAMS...Detroit and Jacksonville..Ugh...Vick will now be exposed as the poor QB and turnover machine he has always been when he plays real teams with real defenses like the Colts, Giants, Vikings, Cowboys, etc.....Vick will throw many nterceptions and have many fumbles against the good defenses...and Eagles fans will start booing Vick like they did in Atlanta where Vick gave the Falcons fans the finger from the sidelines.. Vick will give that same middle finger to the Eagles fans when they boo him.

Vick has a passer rating of 108. That would be impressive against any competition. Lets see what he can do. My biggest concern is with the future - this defense isn't superbowl caliber. We aren't going to win this year. Shouldn't we either sign Vick to an extension or play Kolb?

Tennessee game in the red zone sure looked like a recent ex-Eagles QB running the offense into field goals. Vick is incredibly more efficient in the red zone, offering the Eagles a better chance to win. Bottom line, get over your dog fighting hang up and move on.

The face of the eagles---Cake in the face 'BANG BANG', running around the field like a mad pit bull, reporting to work l5 minutes before a game, getting a l5 yard penalty on sideline as 3rd string emergency QB, can't wait for it to start and FAIL----Oh for the good old days of BOZO the CLOWN--Ha Ha. GO COLTS !

Vick gets no more lousy last place teams now...watch Vick throw many interceptions and fumble many times, against the good teams with real defenses like the Colts, Giants, Vikings and Cowboys, etc....the Eagles fans will be booing Vick before the season is over..book it.

But Vick beat Detroit and Jacksonville. Look what an amazingly successful QB he has been over the years....oh right that was all hype to sell video games. And how about that stupid penalty coming onto the field. Vick STINKS!!! Move on!
