New York Jets fans, perhaps presaging what Michael Vick will hear all season, booed him each time he stepped on the field in the first half Thursday night.

It wasn't voracious booing, or very long-lasting, but it was obviously directed at Vick. There were no nasty signs on display in Giants Stadium, not a single one. That's because the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority forbids signs and umbrellas in Giants Stadium.

So, no signs and, that's right, no umbrellas.

The level of vitriol from the stands might have been less than Vick will experience during the regular season, when the games actually mean something and when there is a full stadium and not a stadium half-full of people who got tickets from a buddy who didn't want to use them.

By the second half, when Vick went from situational player, getting 10 plays scattered during Kevin Kolb's half of work, to every-down quarterback in the second half, even that moderate amount of booing died down. I mean, whaddya expect, they were going to keep it up all night? Shaddup, already.

A week from Sunday in Carolina might be a little different, but, like everything else about Vick's return, this wasn't as crazy about you might have expected.

With all the rust, and not playing in 18 months (ask Herm Edwards, that was his excuse all game), Vick looked just like he did when he played in Atlanta. A athlete who tries to play quarterback. If Reid wants him to be in the pocket, he better get the ball and chain Vick was wearing in Levanworth. Because after his first read, he is going to scramble and get sacked for 10+ yard loss. Sure he will break one every once in a while, but he had more fumbles tonight than break outs. By the 9th game, when the Eagles are 3-5, you will forget Vick is n the team. He will be on the bench with a baseball hat and clipboard and no chance of playing. And Lurie will be at the press conference after the last game announcing that Reid, McNabb, and Vick all wont be back for 2010.

Vick will take runs away from Westbrook and snaps away from McNabb. It will not be a happy bunch of players. 7-9 this year.

I love how Kolb was supposed to play the First half..Vick the secong half. They screwed Kolb out of playing time tonight and he still played better than Vick had basically 3 quarters. Kolb drives the team into the red zone and they bring Vick in to score on that run. Ridiculous!!! Then he runs 25 yds the wrong way almost loses the ball and they call it rust!! Rust how about having some common sense your supposed to move the ball forward!!! The media is jocking this guy hard!!! He's a felon (convickted felon)!!! How about giving Kolb a second chance!!!(after the Baltimore debacle last year people)

Guys this is only preseason, VIck will get better because he has a coach that can teach him how to play QB unlike ATL.

I like the way Kolb ran the offense. He doesn't get a fair shake around here because of that Ravens game, which McNabb played so badly in he got benched. I think McNabb is better than Kolb obviously, but if DMac were to go down, I'd like to see what Kolb did with a week of prepping with the #1s, against another teams #1s. I'm pretty sure it would turn out a lot different than the Baltimore game.
