Vick: ‘I didn’t finish’

Here are highlights from Michael Vick’s postgame news conference after the Eagles' loss to the Packers:
On the last play: “The last play we had four verticals. I took a shot at the end zone. I could have checked it down to the back. I got greedy and took a shot at the end zone. I didn’t throw the right ball that I wanted to and it got picked out. It was a bad way to go out, but at least I went out swinging … It’s hindsight now. It’s something I have to learn from.”
On the mistakes: “We set ourselves back. We had a lot of penalties. A lot of plays we didn’t make. We still managed to make plays and do the right things. We just didn’t put enough points on the board.”
On his ankle injury late in the game: “It wasn’t that bad. I rolled it. It was nothing that was going to keep me from going back into the game.”
On his feeling: “This one hurt more than any of my previous seasons that I played a full season and had an opportunity to play in the playoffs. I just think, I didn’t finish … I expected so much out of myself. I know in coming back and having an opportunity that I could play at a high level in this offense. It’s just disappointing to myself and my teammates that we didn’t finish the way we wanted to. I certainly felt I could do a lot of things better and I didn’t do it.”
On the season overall: “It was a great season. The ultimate goal is the Super Bowl. To do that everybody has to be on one chord, in tune … We didn’t do that tonight. We had a great season but that’s not enough.”
Do you want to sign a long-term contract: “As of right now, I’m not thinking about the contract situation. I’m thinking about what happened 30 minutes ago. It’s unfortunate you can’t go out and correct it the next week. You have to deal with it in your own way, keep believing in yourself and keep pushing. There is always next year and you get another opportunity.”
Do you want to be here next year? “I hope so. In this business, you don’t do. We’ll see. I’ll stay optimistic. I still feel I can play at a high level for the next couple of years, but I still have a lot to learn.”
On mood on the last drive: “I thought we were going to win the game. I had an upbeat feeling about myself. I felt like I was in control … I wish it would have had a better outcome.”

Thanks Mike. You gave us the most exciting season we have seen in a long time around here. Maybe next year we can get an O line to keep the other teams off of you. Rest up, keep studing film, and we'll see you and the crew next year.......healthy and ready to go. GO EAGLES...thanks for all of the heart stopping moments this year...it was a wild ride. philligrl- Thanks for an exciting season, Vick, but it's not that different from the ones we had before with McNabb at the helm.
Brady would have won this game but unfortunately there is only one Tom Brady. Drew777- hey it all start with the fat man. he fail to put his players in position to make plays. is he accountable now? finally? really?
please?
Comment removed.- I didn't believe it.

Sold you morality for some worthless regular season wins. The curse of Vick will haunt the Eagles forever. No Super Bowls...ever. JonKap
You got just what you deserved......failure.....now what happens to those who underperform.......do you remember, Vick. dmurry- Loser

Gave it his all. Reid's scheme stalled the Eagles in the first half, stubbornly stuck to that Shotgun air show on a cold blustery day. Poor throw, but why go to Riley Cooper at that point? Shady, DeSean, Macklin, Vick...first and 10 at the 29. Wow. Bad pass, and Riley, with the year on the line, doesn't even fight for position, fight for the ball. They had time to run 5 or 6 plays with all that time. Hell even if they scored there, Green Bay would have 53 seconds to get into the tying or winning FG. retzlaff- Completely agree. Avant was wide open around the 12 yard line. I was hoping they would score with less than 20 seconds left to give GB's offense little or no shot of winning. I don't fault Vick at all. He played with a lot of heart. Eagles need to get him some help on the O-line, and the defense has to get a lot better.

Vick didn't finish it like he finished off those dogs that he killed. Typical Eagles one and done play off appearance. Fly Eagles Fly, into a wall. See you in 2013 after the lockout. wahwahwaaaah
Thank YOU Michael.......You made the season for us......now if we can only get your head coach to select some real players for the defense and cut the drek from the defensive backfield (except for Asante) and go out and get real offensive lineman.......but THANK YOU MICHAEL.... nuggett- Like he said, they went down swinging. Damn though, just sucks they lost...all in all, I think they overachieved, and that's obviously due to Vick and his leadership w/ this team. Hopefully the organization can up the talent level on D and O line for next season.
