Michael Vick was still unable to practice Christmas Day, as the Eagles wrapped up their week of preparation for Brian Dawkins and the Denver Broncos.

Vick, who suffered a quad bruise on a tackle by former Eagle Michael Lewis last Sunday against the 49ers, is unlikely to have much of a role in the Birds' offense this week. But the Eagles obviously want to have him available at least as an emergency third quarterback, behind Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb.

"That's what we're trying to work toward," Vick said.

"He’s sore," Eagles coach Andy Reid said." If he can work in there, we’ll have that option of having three quarterbacks"

Reid said Vick will be available if  “he can function without getting hurt. I don’t want to put him out there if he’s going to hurt himself.”

Brian Westbrook completed his practice week of work with no setbacks and is scheduled to return to action against the Broncos after two concussions.

“He’s done well this week. We’ve been (indoors) on turf for the three days. There’s certain things we’re going to do with him both in the run game and in the pass game so we’ll see how he does. We’re not going to expect him to play every play, the whole game. That’s not what we’re doing going into this,” Reid said.

Eagles practice squad linebacker/safety Rashard Langford, who had been the scout team guy mimicking NFL sacks leader Elvis Dumervil this week, got an unexpected Christmas present Thursday night when he was signed by the Chiefs. Eagles practice squadders have been in high demand this season -- Langford was the last member of the season-opening practice squad group still with the team.

Finally, in the spirit of Holiday season inclusiveness:

This pretty much covers everything, right?

You mean, MIchael Vick, profile in courage can't overcome a slight injury? What a joke...father of the Year Andy Reid has ruined the Eagles because of his guilt from his two sons in jail. Groundhog day until 2014...make the playoffs and lose. The gold Standard is now the joke standard.

You people are pathetic. I'm not condoning his actions, but he has turned his life around, after serving his sentence and paying his dues, and he has stood tall and admitted his wrongdoings. He serves as a voice condemning dogfighting and is helping to teach the youth in Philly on how to avoid making the same mistakes he's made. On Christmas day, you guys are on here ridiculing him...if you don't have anything nice to say, shut up! It does take courage to admit his terrible actions and not make excuses....

Bleue-stood tall? Are you kidding me? Turned his life around by signing an NFL contract...you are a sycophant. Do you bet on killing dogs too? You are nothing more than an apologist for a convicted animal killer.

Aden: I've seriously read your post multiple times and STILL have no clue what you are saying. I've come to the conclusion that you are either in Kindergarten, or you just combined a bunch of random words and sentences and then clicked submit. People without at least a 1st grade level education should not be allowed to write on public forums. Someone please read that post, and although it doesn't contain a shred of a point, it's hysterical to read! Thanks for the Christmas gift!

Les BowenLes Bowen has covered the Eagles for the Daily News since 2002. Before that, he spent nearly 13 years covering the Flyers. It took Les only a few seasons after the switch to figure out that there was no penalty box at the Linc, and that the time really wasn't his, despite what Andy Reid kept saying. Les came to Philadelphia and the Daily News from Charlotte in 1983. In the intervening years, he has pretty much lost track of NASCAR, and his accent. He, his wife Barbara, and their two sons live in Haddon Township, New Jersey. E-mail Les at bowenl@phillynews.com and follow him on Twitter.

Paul DomowitchPaul Domowitch has been with the Daily News since 1982. He has spent most of his nearly 3 decades with the paper covering the Eagles and pro football. For the last 10 years, he’s been a selector for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. A native of Wilkes-Barre and a graduate of Wilkes University, Domo started his career in Texas, working first for the Midland Reporter-Telegram (1976-78), and then for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, where he covered some god-awful Texas Ranger baseball teams. His first beat at the Daily News actually was boxing, which he covered just long enough to lose 2 sports coats to blood spatter before moving on to football. Domo and his wife Shelley, a University of Oklahoma grad who still hasn’t gotten over that Fiesta Bowl loss to Boise State 5 years ago, have 2 terrific daughters -- Allison, 28, who is an attorney in South Jersey, and Amy, 25, who works in administration for a professional baseball team.
