The Eagles, Bo Scaife and Wikipedia

POSTED: Saturday, May 9, 2009, 11:17 AM

The Eagles explored the possibility of acquiring Tennessee Titans tight end Bo Scaife during draft weekend, a league source has told the Nashville City Paper, but eventually nothing came of the discussions.

However, to quote the late great Paul Havey, here is the rest of the story ...

Someone -- perhaps even an overzealous Eagles fan -- changed Scaife's Wikipedia entry to reflect that he had been dealt to the Eagles for Reggie Brown and a third-round pick. (The page has since been fixed.)

"I heard something like that, and my phone was going off the hook. I knew that wasn’t true. I had to sign my deal first before anything like that could go down,” Scaife told Yahoo Sports this week.

The Titans had placed the franchise tag on Scaife in late February but he had not signed the tender until the day after the draft. He will make $4.46 million this season.

Of course, the Eagles, as you knew, selected Florida tight end Cornelius Ingram in the fifth round in what many experts already are calling among the biggest steals in the draft.

Oh, the dangers of the Internet ...

Hey, I just read over at FancyPantsEaglesRants.com that there is an offer for Boldin for a case of cheesesteaks, plus a video of Reid breakdancing. I swear it's true!

When there are so many Eagle fans out there willing to beliee almost anything, this article is right to correct the story. Otherwise, we'd have 20 "way to go, Birds" comments instead of the cynics who claim it is a non-story.

we don't want the brown bros because one is a malcontent and the other just plain sux! they have no value! so why are you morons hyping some ridiculous trade involving them. there ain't many stupid gm's out there that would consider trading for them. why don't the birds just release them? both would be on the unemployment line for 2010 unless the Lions are desperate and sign them. we would be a better team without them.

They won't realize the difference between and article and a blog because they're not smart enough to know there is a difference!

the eagles do not need a tight end. thank god this isnt true... they should go for a little more depth at the linebacker position

brinkmang, I don't agree with cutting them, and saying that there isn't a GM stupid enough to want them. Does Al Davis ring a bell? Nothing is impossible. Just look at our draft, a WR with the first pick and a RB in round 2. Never say never..
