In all likliehood, the Andy Reid era in Philadelphia will come to an end some time between now and the Super Bowl.

Many will likely chase the most-tenured coach in the NFL right out of town, but shouldn't we stop for a second to remember all the good things he has done for the city and its football team? Division titles, an NFC Championship, and a list of memorable quotes that could fill an entire play sheet.

Having lived through Joe Kuharick to Marion Campbell to Ray Rhodes, I will always appreciate the elevation that Andy brought to this franchise and to the enthusiasm for football in this city. That said, it is clear that the duration was too long and there is no denying that Andy (or Banner/Howie's) coordinator and player personnel decisions hastened the decline.

Thanks Andy for your dignity and your extraordinary commitment. You have left a permanent, positive mark on this franchise and the fan base and Philadelphia community is blessed to have been associated with you.

Your refusal to be controversial or to throw your players under the bus publicly has annoyed the beat writers and they seem to be relishing your current status.

From the view of a long standing Eagles fan I am grateful for you having made November and December meaningful for most of the preceding 14 years. You will be sorely missed.

God bless you and your family and thanks once again for a great run.

I'm sad for the Eagles, the fans and for Andy. What was the turning point? Was it last year's shortened season? The Eagles looked so good on paper. Are we destined to be the Chiefs of the East? When you think you've hit bottom it just gets worse. Obviously its going to take a MAJOR fix at this stage. I think you rebuild with a guy like Ryan Mallett.

Andy is responsible for this sorry team, there's consequences for losing. He deserves recognition for some good years, and he'll coach again some place else. Philly is a tough town, but he knew that going in.
