Video: Speculation has started that Steve Spagnuolo could become the new defensive coordinator for the Eagles. The Inquirer's Jeff McLane and CineSport's Noah Coslov discuss the possibility.

Wait a minute...speculation has just started? Weren't a few of us on here calling for this to happen about 6-8 weeks ago? And besides...wasn't Spags a TE? What does he know about "D"?....Wouldn't that be like making your O Line guy the Def Coordinator? LMAO.....I thought we've handled those last few games against those lesser teams masterfully! - They have bigger issues than defensive coordinator. Did you see Rodgers, Brees or Brady this weekend? Do you really believe the Eagles will win a Super Bowl with Vick? One of those three QB's is going to have his hands on the Lombardi Trophy this February and probably the February after that. Yeah ,the defense needs to be improved but Mike Vick will never lead this team or any team to a Super Bowl victory. Can we acknowledge that as well?— syddan26
- Did you the receivers and the Offensive Line(especially) of teams that you have just mentioned.If Brees or Brady play behind philly Oline they will be killed in 2 weeks.
Its the dumb receivers play that cost most of the games like Jason Avant's touchback for example from last game.this is one of many stupid things they did.
Yeah I know the above QBs you mentioned are much better but not everybody plays the sameway..— vkram - it's not etirely on the OLine or the receivers. Vick,like McNabb before him, is indecisive holds on to the for a lifetime and a half. In addition, he is smurf-sized at a generous 6'-0" and his vision is blocked by the giants on the D Line. Reid should have had him take more snaps in the shotgun or pistol and back pedal. Whenever he rolls out, he losses sight of his receivers while precious seconds tick off. No OLine is going to be able to sustain blocks forever. I agree with syddan26. Vick and Reid, like McNabb and Reid will NEVER win a Super Bowl as Eagles quarterback and head coach respectfully . — essell
- Mark1npt - Pretty sure you're thinking of John Spagnola. Spagnuolo was a defensive backs and linebacker coach with the Eagles from 1999 to 2006.— slovak34

- Syddan26 is right on. The QB was the difference between last year and this. Just look at the turnovers. The Eagles Defense is ranked 2nd overall in the NFC and tied with G'bay in pts allowed. Defense is not the problem, it's an inconsistant offense that turns the ball over way too much. That's not a coaching issue either. It's an issue with your highest paid skill position players not doing the things you need to do to win.— AngryGregR

How does the subject of the possibly of Spagnuolo becoming the next Eagles Defensive Coordinator become a plea to acknowledge that Vick can't lead a team to a super bowl victory? Some of you guys really need to put aside your man crush for Vick. The Eagles should just move forward with the coaches they have. We had a bad season, it happens, move on. Since some of you idolize Rodgers, Brees and Brady so much, why don't you just get off this site and go to the Packers, Saints and/or the Patriots sites and ride those bandwagons. - I just don't see another complete change of defensive scheme as being the road to the super bowl. The system that Andy arrived here with has become so watered down and convoluted it seems that the best situation for both Andy Reid and the Eagles would be to hit the reset button. Andy with a new team. The Eagles with a new coaching staff.

- Did Spagnuolo get fired? Who's to say he even gets fired as head coach of the Rams much less get hired to coach the Eagles defense? You know how Reid just HATES to be proven wrong so he just may go with Castillo in keeping with his well established principled obstinacy. And, besides, Reid might just be lame ducking next year.
