McNabb, Kolb trades shape 'D'
Sheil Kapadia, Philly.com
The Eagles' last playoff win came on January 11, 2009 against the New York Giants.
Donovan McNabb was the starting quarterback for 16 regular-season and three playoff games that season as the Birds snuck into the playoffs with a 9-6-1 record, advanced to the NFC championship game and eventually fell to the Arizona Cardinals.
McNabb's backup was Kevin Kolb, a second-year player who had attempted 34 passes and had to wait until the following season to make his first NFL start.
Now, a little more than three years later, McNabb is reportedly working with Warren Moon to make himself attractive to NFL teams. But retirement may be near for the 35 year old.
Kolb started only nine games in his first season with the Cardinals last year and is looking to prove that Arizona made a wise move in trading for him.
The Eagles, meanwhile, are counting on a number of players from the McNabb and Kolb trades to make an impact on this year's defense.
Let's start with the McNabb swap. The Eagles sent him to the Redskins on Easter Sunday in 2010 for a second-round pick in that year's draft, along with a conditional third- or fourth-rounder in 2011. With the second-round pick (37th overall), the Eagles selected safety Nate Allen. Allen's first two years have been marred by injuries and inconsistent play with flashes of production. He's slated to be a starter in 2012, but the Birds need him to put everything together in his third season.
The other pick ended up being a fourth-rounder (No. 104 overall) in 2011. But the Eagles traded that selection to the Bucs (who took Tennessee tight end Luke Stocker). In exchange, the Birds moved down 12 spots and selected linebacker Casey Matthews. They also received a fourth-round draft choice in 2012 from Tampa.
However, the Eagles didn't make the 2012 pick they got from the Bucs. Instead, they used it as the primary compensation to acquire middle linebacker DeMeco Ryans from the Texans earlier this offseason. The two teams swapped third-round picks as well (Nos. 76 andd 88 overall).
So overall, for McNabb, the Eagles got Allen, Matthews and to a degree, Ryans. I mentioned expectations for Allen above. Matthews will get a chance to compete at WILL and nickel linebacker, while the Eagles are counting on Ryans to solidify the middle, which has been a constant problem.
As for Kolb, the Birds dealt him to the Cardinals in July of last year for cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a second-round pick. Rodgers-Cromartie struggled in the slot last year and will move back outside in 2012, which is the final year of his contract.
The second-round pick was No. 51 overall, but the Eagles traded back eight spots to No. 59 and took defensive end Vinny Curry. They also got a fourth-rounder from the Packers in the deal (No. 123 overall) and picked Georgia cornerback Brandon Boykin. Boykin will get a chance right away to replace Joselio Hanson as the nickelback and be the team's kickoff returner. Curry will likely be a rotational pass rusher, who will have a chance to start in the future if he produces.
So overall, for Kolb, the Eagles got Rodgers-Cromartie, Curry and Boykin.
And for both quarterbacks, here's the total: Allen, Rodgers-Cromartie, Matthews, Curry, Boykin and to some degree, Ryans.
There have been other moves on defense along the way. Most notably, the signings of Nnamdi Asomugha, Cullen Jenkins and Jason Babin, along with several draft picks. But in many ways, the players the Eagles received for Kolb and McNabb project to have a significant impact on the success of this defense in 2012.

Good piece sheil.a lot have people write matthews off as useless but he was thrown to the wolves as a rookie i think he can still make a solid lb.drc will play better on the outside and allen has a lot of potential if he can stay healthy and im excited to see these rookies play.if all these guys play to their potential the defense will be great. Sean s.- Let's examine the more important issue of the Kolb "acquisition." We were two years removed from the Superbowl and needed only a few pieces. Instead of acquiring those pieces, we traded out of the 1st round, to the Dallas Cowboys no less, who drafted Anthony Spencer. We then drafted and groomed Kolb for 4 years. Sure, we eventually got something for him, but it was 5 years later. That, in no way, can be construed as a good investment. The Kolb acquisition set this team back at least 5 years. After all that's been said and done, here we sit at 8-8. From Superbowl contention to 8-8. That ain't good.
- It hurts my fingers to type this but Lonewolf is right in a way. That Kolb draft was a huge mistake when could have addressed needs at the time and kept on top. If they had concerns about McNabb and hs health, a veteran qb would have been the answer since no qb is ready for Andy's scheme year 1. As for value on drafts, all of them are big questions marks until it is done on the field (or on IR like the most recent can't misses) rvb2321

- My friend, pain is good. Pain is a motivator, but most importantly, the truth has set you free!
- You were beating the drum for Kevin Kolb back then so your analysis at this point is pretty useless.
mx55 - In fact, I adopted this moniker to ridicule the original Lonewolf. Can't you tell the difference? That I actually make sense should be something of a hint.
- Of course, you leave out that at the time of the Kolb draft, the Eagles had a QB who had a long series of serious injuries, lost his running ability and was clearly not the player he was prior to said injuries and Michael Vick still had rope on his soap. You know they say hindsights...oh,well, for you it seems to be 20/40.
UncleStosh - I acknowledged that McNabb was having health issues but a rookie was never going to step in year one if he got hurt. Get the veteran back up and draft a Trent Edwards in a later round if you "need" to take one during an off year for QBs rvb2321
he looks like such a schmoe in that picture Witz79- You are one of the main people who was crying for Kolb, now you want to bash him, you deserve Kolb.
charmaine - This is why it's tough to complain about them taking Foles
excellent article Sheil. Have a feeling Peter King will be writing a similar article in two months. dragoon6
Quite a haul. It would be even better if we had upgraded our QB position. At least we didn't lose anything for Vick. ej610
Vick is the worst QB in the NFC East....Eli Manning, Tony Romo and now RG3 are better than the overhyped Vick...also Tom Brady,Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Dree Brees and Big Ben all are better and have won SUPER BOWLS....Vick has been Eagles QB with all this Dream Team talent, and Vick has not even won a stinkin' playoff game...LOL. phil500- You aren't serious are u.............Really............I didn't think so.
charmaine - Why don't you animal activist get some comprehension skills nowhere in this article is Vick's name mention, but here you losers are. I guess you have skills? LOL for a trailer park game. Get lost losers!
Blessed8251
this is the year for Vick though, if he doesnt produce he doesnt have a guarantee so we could move on. Move on to what though? rebuilding with Foles, Kafka another FA qb or another later round pick in the draft. For all the Vick bashing, he does give the eagles the best chance to win these past few seasons and ahead. It could be rough seasons ahead rebuilding with new qb and prob coach which then becomes a complete overhaul per coaches bringing in their own staff. Lets hope the D can win us some games this yr. I agree Matthews still has time to develop as do a lot of these young dbs and lbs. I put more stock into Graham being successful over Curry. peteike
Comment removed.

That's because Vick is not a QB! he never was. Simply a strong armed sprinter/punt returner. Sadly our team decided we needed a "novelty" act like him and not a "pocket passer" who knows how to step up in the pocket as opposed to running in circles behind it!
osi is hurt boohoo- Well if you don't think he's a qb why the hell would you be a fan of a team that doesn't have a qb, not very bright are you.
charmaine - did you really just write that? wow!!! well,, considering i was a fan before Vick was brought in might have something to do with that! and another thing - if i could control what the FO did it sure as heck would not have been to bring Vick in. now on to you. you're not very smart,, stick to the books with big pictures and small words. idiot!
osi is hurt boohoo - Who cares about how long you have been a fan.....NOBODY, I certainly don't. Understand there is a legitimate reason why you can't and don't control the FO, they don't allow idiots, dummies and folks that aren't smart. Now go get your coloring book and crayons!
charmaine
ask yourself, would you rather have Vick or Kolb running the show. Vick based on that first yr of course, its a no brainer unless of course you thought VY was the answer or Kafka. peteike
Vick is EXTREMELY overrated! Fantasy football people and teens buying his jersey make up the majority of the contingent that think he's "upper echelon". He and DJax are nowhere near the hype they receive...
How is it that Big Red and Marty get tons of praise bestowed on them for being QB "witchdoctors", when KK and Vick are so average? We can aslo add Feeley to that mix.
If anything they are good at finding suckers dumb enough to trade for marginal players, that were thought to be "coached up". Kudos to them for that! somertonspartan
Foles= future 2nd round pick jdld610
Hey Boo Hoo
You have now posted essentially the same comment after nearly every Eagles article column and blog post. We get it. You hate Vick. Go back to the basement and your mom will bring you your chicken nuggets. Section 730
phil500 - Talk about overhyped, you include RG3 who hasn't even thrown a pass in the NFL! Keep up the dumb posts. rickm
if anyone is to blame for casey matthews, its andy reid and juan castillo. matthews wasn't ready to start and they threw him in the lineup like he was a 5 year vet. and of course at the end of the season, reid comes clean to admit that the LBs situation might have been overlooked. YA THINK, ANDY? sdffa13
nice piece sheil. sore richard
This is the year for Vick. The pressure is on. no excuses. Win or leave. Tyrone Biggums
An interesting take, Sheil. armchairGM
RG3 is already better than Vick and RG3 is 10 years YOUNGER so he will keep getting better every year, while Vick is already declining every year, and Vick is a 32 year old loser that has never won anything.....also Cam Newton is already better than Vick also..LOL. phil500- Cam Newton is better, RG3 is better and I'm betting that YOU are better too.
RG3 hasn't played a down and Cam Newton is more of a runner than Vick is but yet he's a better QB when you constantly remind us that a QB is to stand in the pocket. You might want to stop posting or get another name because phil500 post the most inane and insane comments known to Internet Board posts.
What shaped the "D" was Andy and the mailboys garbage picks.....and the lack of value they place on linebackers and the idea that a fourth round reach could be a starter.....The fault lies directly at Andy's feet.... nuggett

actually i'm in your basement,, remember? osi is hurt boohoo
The Eagles trading of McNabb was a masterstroke. I cannot believe Snyder gave up a second round pick for him. LOL. valorius
Guess what they will get for Vick if they try and trade him next year. that's right! RELIEF! osi is hurt boohoo- @phil500 Vick may not be the best quarterback in our division but he is definately a good one. How can you say that RG3 is already better? He may be, but he hasn't even taken a snap yet. As for Vick not winning a playoff game, I recall him going into Lambeau and beating the Packers as underdogs. Tony Romo has only won 1 playoff game as well... so your statement has very little merit. If you're just a hater, then I apologize for wasting your time.. but if you're a fan, I don't really understand why you wouldn't be optimistic this year.
Vick is not a very good quarterback. at all. His TD numbers are like 2, 5, 7, 10, 12, 20, and 14. For a starter those numbers are TERRIBLE. his career accuracy is TERRIBLE. under pressure, NOT GOOD AT ALL. the only thing he is elite at is SCRAMBLING. THATS IT. and that DOES NOT WIN SUPERBOWLS BY ITSELf. NEVER HAS. EVER. also Reid hasnt won a playoff game in three freaking years, other caoches have been fired for less then that, even IF he wins one playoff game this year, which is the max I see from this team, that 1 playoff win in 4 years, same as Kotite, same as Rhodes both produced, ALL GOT FIRED. MATH = ANDY IS GONE IF HE DOESNT GET TO A SUPERBOWL. TERRIBLE OVER-RATED MEDIOCRE GARBAGE PART 4 COMING UP. CharlieGarner25
Lets ask again, who would you prefer to have running the show the past two yrs and next yr, Vick or Kolb? You would take Vick all day as Reid did and its also why it extended his stay in Philly another few yrs. I am no big fan of Vicks, but it was the best choice for the team to win now. Of course he more than likely wont win a superbowl but he gives you best chance and maybe a slight chance at a playoff run. That is also what wins in NFL, get in, get on a run, see what happens. Helps to have a solid D like McNabb had. peteike
The fans here will be very upset when Kolb outplays and beats Vick in the Arizona game this year.....LOL phil500- Well I guess the fans can be relieved to know they'll never have to be concerned about being upset......LOL
charmaine
I would rather have young guns Cam Newton or RG3, then the old proven loser Vick. phil500- And I'd rather have a car that flies, a six digit salary, and a comment section void of your nonsense...one problem, neither your scenario nor my scenario is possible, so move on. Bottom line, Vick is a second tier QB. He isn't Rodgers/Brady, agreed, but he isn't Vince Young or Colt McCoy either. He's the best we can do right now. Here's to hoping that this season is more like 2010 than 2011 for Vick. I'm routing for Vick because he is our QB, and I want him and the Eagles to succeed. Simple as that.
JTR
This is the year we find out whether Nate Allen can play (and stay healthy). p-diddy
The Eagles know how to deal and trade...actually they're darn good at it...although not every change works out, they deserve credit for the ongoing effort to improve the roster...something tells me this year will be a treat with the new additions...McNabb and Kolb were both traded at the right time but Dawkins should have stayed and the front office knows it...there will be more roster changes before the season begins...count on it...no coincidence that Banner has been taken out of the public eye and Roseman/Reid do the talking now...smart move. greenbloodVAEagle
Hindsight, if you are going to use stats at least use accurate ones...
Stik, if you are around, what is your take on Foles? Any chance he can play or just trade fodder in two years? tpizza- Big arm, nailed to the ground. If they can work on his foot movement, at least enough to buy a second or two at this level, I'm sure they can flip him in a couple years. Doubtful they were looking for any kind of future franchise QB in the 3rd round. Maybe he'll be here backing up Brees 2013-16..
- tpizza if you are going to nitpick at least come up with something new. Its called estimation. If you look up the actual stats they will be within 90% accurate of what I just posted off the top of my head lol...good one. The point stands whether he threw like 7 or 8 td's in year 3, I DONT EVEN NEED TO LOOK IT UP BECAUSE I KNOW THEY ARE WITHIN THE RANGE OR TERRIBBLE. QUOTE ME THE EXACT NUMBERS AND TELL ME I AM WRONG. I DARE YOU.
Kolb is a horses arse Astro Jones
Any QB with qualifications to join the Klan will do. Philly racists should take up a collection to pay off Vick's contract and send him on his way. Terry Bradshaw won 4 SBs, so get rid of Vick and hire him. Klansmen are always unable to hate Vick's white teammates. I support the total Philadelphia Eagles team regardless of their color but, oh yeah, I would never live in the haters paradise called Philadelphia! Dan Marino and other QBs in the HOF that never won a SB are laughing at the biased idiots in Philly! allworld2- Right on...Kolb is a horses arse.
Astro Jones
Of course they were good moves! D-Mac,and Kolb have done nothing since leaving Philly. If Allen didn't get hurt, he probably be a Pro Bowl player or close to it by now. Look for him to play a lot better this season. DRC had a down season because he wasn't cut out for the slot. That just shows the importance of selecting the proper players for position and system. The end of last season he showed us what he could do on the outside. I fully expect him to have a big year, since he'll be playing for a new contract. Whammy! Eaglecheesehead- phil500 -- Vick is clearly the 2nd best in our division. Only manning is better. Vick has won more games than Romo who is a choke artist and RG3 hasnt thrown a ball yet so to say he is better already just shows your vick hate. Im not saying Vick is the best qb at all, but he is by far a better player than kolb and that is all that matters because it was between having KOlb or Vick. And to say Kolb is better is down right laughable.
Good post Sheil. Eagles most certainly ended up with the better end of both deals. The off season additions/resignings, the draft, and the idea that last year's signings should perform better with a full off season and more experience with the team/system, has me more excited for this season than I have been in a while. Way too early to talk super bowl, but I definitely think we are in for some good football this season. JTR
How did this become a Vick thread? But since you all took me there, I can't wait to see the comments (or lack thereof) when the Eagles win the Super Bowl this year. All the Vick haters will be stuck with their foot in their mouth.... MrMiles1
Looking at it now the choice of Kolb was a horrible one and the players the Eagles got 5 years later doesn't change that. We were lucky to swindle DC and the Cards so at least NOW there is some benefit. I don't have that much of an issue with the pick of a QB at that time though. McN was coming back from an injury and the Eagles needed insurance if he failed to rebound [no jokes required]. It was the particular player they chose, not the QB itself that was awful. If KK had lived up to the billing we wouldn't be having this discussion...but if he had we wouldn't have Curry, Boykin or DRC. either. tpizza
Lurie spent a lot of money on Kolb for nothing. CaptainCrunch- Tpizza, you are so right. We jacked Arizona, and were lucky to do so.
I kinda like what Lonewolf said at the beginning of these post, regarding the Kolb acquistion, instead of Sheils point of trying his best to put a positive light on the trades. Looks good on paper, but has the acquired players really done anything yet to merit something to go crazy about. Of course this years draft picks haven't had a chance yet, but we have to wait and see. I mean DRC wasn't so great last year, and with Asante gone, he could wind up being a disaster as a replacement. watsonmr
WMR, I remember Mark Schlereth, having a cow over the Kolb pick for the exact reasons L11 aptly and accurately stated. I can't recall who the Eagles left on the board to take KK but perhaps the Dallas pick [Spencer?] would have looked a lot better in green than Kolb? Not that we ever needed a LB... tpizza
LONEWOLF 11, YOUR AN IDIOT,DO ALL OF US REAL EAGLES FANS A FAVOR AND PICK ANOTHER TEAM TO FOLLOW...BECAUSE YOU CAN'T REALLY BE A TRUE EAGLES FAN...YOUR WAY TO NEGATIVE ALL THE TIME.....NAME ME SOMETHING POSITIVE AND YOU ARE PROUD TO SAY ABOUT YOUR TEAM ,THE EAGLES...YOU CAN'T CAN YOU. bigpaulie
Stik, oddly the Brees though has come to my mind too. Always thought the future QB would be a FA...REid running out of time and all...no time for a rookie to develop.
Nailed to the Ground? :) Good description. tpizza
Tony Romo is better than Vick...Romo's career QB rating is MUCH HIGHER than Vicks, plus Romo has a better pass completion percentage than Vick, Romo has more TOUCHDOWN passes than Vick, plus Romo has more passing yards per game , plus Romo has more passing yards than per attempt than Vick in their entire careers....and even last season Romo was much more successful than Vick...Romo had a QB rating of 102 which was the FOURTH best in the entire NFL...Vick had a QB rating of only 84 which was the FOURTEEN in the NFL....Romo is obviously better than Vick, and you Vick lovers should stop with the silly hype for the lousy Vick. phil500- Romo's a choker with slippery fingers and bad taste in women to date (as opposed to sleep with. Seriously, with all the tape on Jessica, why would you possibly date her.) I'll take next year with Vick over Romo any day.
phil Mcnuggett: Now that I have clearly shown you Tony Romo is better than the lousy Vick....that means that Vick is now the worst QB in the NFC East...Eli Manning, who has won TWO Super Bowls is obviously much better than Vick, and Romo is clearly better than Vick, and now RG3 is better than Vick also, RG3 is 10 years younger than Vick, RG3 is faster than Vick and RG3 is a more accurate passer than Vick...congratulations, Vick is now the worst QB in the NFC East...LOL. phil500
Kevin Kolb looks depressed in every last photo i've ever seen him in. Zeru
Tony Romo is better than Micheal Vick? When did Tony Romo carry a team to the NFC championship? Tony Romo isnt even a qb. He's one of those underwear models for NFL merchandise. He's only in it to date girls wear the star and enjoy his 15 minutes of fame while it last. I"m really surprised the cowboys still have him at qb. But i'm definately not complaining. Keep him there. Zeru
Yes, Tony Romo is better than Vick...read the comparisons in the post below that prove Romo is better than Vick....you Vick lovers are in denial, Vick is the worst QB in the NFC...even the young kids like Cam Newton and RG3 are better than Vick...LOL. phil500
Hey hindsight, is your point that you want the Eagles to pass MORE? Love it when you contradict yourself. Congrats...wiff. Now you're learning something!
Quote the exact stats including games played AND rushing TDs and get back to me. tpizza- lol.. rushing TD's by QB's do not win superbowls...they mean virtually nothing. look it up for confirmation.
We will never win a superbowl without Donovan McNabb! Vick can't even win a playoff game! I love Vick but numbers show that Donovan gave us the best chance to win the Big game. southweezy
I don't get why so many think Arizona got jacked. They gave the Eagles DRC because they were going to cut him because he sucked so bad after his one good season that the GM actually drove him to the airport and put him in first class on his own dime to philly. He looked just as awful last year. Blame it on the slot but he has reams of film on the outside in AZ that is just as atrocious as his slot play. If AZ had tried to trade hi that year, they would have gotten a 6th or 7th rd pick. Kolb was hurt all of last year pretty much and will most likely be the starter. That trade is still waiting a grade. UncleStosh
@Phil500 are you kidding? Does it even matter who is the "Better QB" ? Isnt the real question and the bottom line who gives us a "better shot at winning". In that regard, I'd take Vick over Tony Romo (lower career win %, hasnt won a play-off game, all-around choke artist) and over RG3 (young and unproven as of now). The Bottom line is winning
P.S. Don't give us the QB rating stat. It sucks. Everyone knows it, thats why they made the True QB rating system. The2ndMostInterestingManInTheWorld
If I needed to win one game and I was given the choice between Tony Romo and Micheal Vick and its an important game. I'm going with Vick. The reason he gets hurt so much is because he puts it on the line. Romo is the cowboys version of Donovan Mcnabb. Eli Manning, Michael Vick, Tony Romo and RG3 since he is a rookie and we havent actually seen him play. This is realistic. I guarantee if you asked all 32 coaches in the league who would they rather have to win an important game Vick or Romo.. Vick wins that discussion by at least 65%. Zeru
Hindsightdolt, team TDs win SBs. I don't care if the Eagles score using the Statue of Liberty play [look it up] so long as they score. You use stats the way the average idiot does, to skew facts. This TD stat is right up there with your >57.whatever% rushing stat that never wins SBs which went up in flames this year. I also wouldn't waste my time looking up something this stupid. Keep swinging slugger...blind squirrel eventuality factor will soon take effect...look it up. tpizza
Hey Zeru....that's a silly way to compare QB on only one game....Vick is 32 years old and has been playing for a very long time, you need to compare his entire career to Romo's, and Romo is absolutely better, Any scout or GM will tell that Romo has absolutely outperformed Vick in their careers...even last year Romo had a 102 QB rating, and Vick only had a low 84 QB rating...Romo is better than Vick...and young guns RG3 and Cam Newton are better than Vick also. ..LOL. phil500
Hey 2nd most; What facts don't you understand...Romo has more TD passes, most passing yards, more completions...PLUS HAS a MUCH HIGHER career QB rating than the lousy Vick....plus last season Romo was the FOURTH highest QB rating in the entire NFL, and Vick was the FOURTEENTH...stop ignoring the obvious facts that prove Romo is better Vick. phil500
McNabb, love him or hate him, he's the best QB to ever play in Philly. If you don't believe it, look it up. Kobb, a damn good QB, he was traded after getting hurt and Vick set the world on fire. Why did Vick get the job? The Eagles O-Line SUCKED, and the Eagles needed a QB that could run. Kobb was traded to Arz., another team with an O-Line that SUCKS. It's one of the oldest stories in football, and one I'll never understand. The QB gets most of the blame when he's not productive behind a BAD O-Line. Why is that? Why do you think Payton Manning passed on Arizona? I'll bet a weeks pay it's because they have a bad O-Line. The best thing about the Kobb trade for DCR, is that it finally got Asuckte moved out of town. Craig321
Of course, if Vick stinks up Philadelphia again and Kolb takes the Cardinales to the Superbowl as some are predicting, it will look like the dumbest thing Reid has done, and he has done a lot of dumb things.
In reply to the other columnist Ian, who called the Eagles fans brain damaged someone tell him to tread lightly on the IQ thing. No journalist has ever been accused of being an intellectual. In fact, when I went to college, they were the second dumbest students in college, just over the jocks. mario1239

The eagles main issue is that we dont shorten the field enough. Our receivers are smaller so we throw deep passes a lot. That doesnt win championships. You have to shorten the field and run more. So im hoping Bryce Brown or Polk turn into a possible backup to shady. We all know the Ronnie Brown experiment didnt work out. We'll see whose hungry enough. The slot needs to be looked into also. More yards after the catch. All of Avants catches seem to end after every catch. Rueben Randle would of been a nice pick up. Yes_General
Did I see Tony Romo and RG3 are better than Vick?
That's the worst thing I've ever seen. Maybe Romo was better than Vick when he was in Atlanta, but he's not anymore. Romo is a choke. And as for Robert Griffin III, he hasn't played a God damn NFL snap. Eli is better than Vick by two rings, I still believe he's overrated. Great 2011 season though.
yes_general- hearing a lot of talk about playing more small ball, it seemed to help us out a lot last year. Brown or Polk could help introduce a little three headed monster. McCoy is the man, Lewis is basically his doppelganger, and Brown and Polk are more so powerbacks. Polk is more proven and a better all around player than Brown, but I hope all 4 make the roster. If not, I'd be content taking Havili over Brown, but I just have a gut feeling Brown and Polk would be more useful than Havili. colahead420
Watson & Wolf:
I think the point is not that selecting Kolb was the right move, or that the Eagles were necessarily brilliant in how they parlayed the QB trades, but simply that the defense as it stands - and unproven as it may be - is built to some significant degree on the McNabb and Kolb trades. Nothing more to the story at this point. Time will tell... Mr. Magee
