The Eagles are looking at St. Louis Rams wide receiver Danny Amendola as a potential free agent signing, according to CSNPhilly.com's Geoff Mosher.

Amendola has registered 60 or more catches in each of the last two seasons, but the Rams are going to let him go after four years in St. Louis.

New Eagles offensive coordinator Pat Shurmer knows Amendola well, having been the Rams' coach when the team signed Amendola in 2009.

Prior to joining the Rams, Amendola spent time on the Eagles' practice squad.

The NFL's free agent signing period officially begins at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Teams are not allowed to discuss contracts with potential signings until that time.

Do you expect the Eagles to make a big splash in the free-agent market?
Yes. They need to rebuild their defense.
No. They are well-stocked with draft picks.

No mention of Amendola formerly being on the Eagles practice squad?

Great signing if you want a fragile little guy who is sure to miss half the season. If they're looking for WR help, can we aim higher please.

Are you kidding me. Amendola is 5'11" - 183lbs. We don't need another tiny WR. Give me a break.

    ...and he runs a blazing 4.6 / 40.

I think we need to look at entire offseason before judging Amendola option. I think offensively one of the things we lacked was a short pass receiver like an Amendola (Wes Welker clone). If we sign Amendola, Goldson....maybe work out a DeSean, picks for Revis trade....then draft a defensive player at #4...then all the Amendola option would make more sense

This guy's a poor man's Wes Welker who catches half his passes on bubble screens...He'd be a sure fit as a PR, and does not employ alligator arms,..But yes, his style (and size)seems to have him dwell on the IR quite often...Still PO'd over the Eagles gifting off both he and Brandon Gibson (who would have made the Birds as a surehanded rook back in 09, as he was as solid as first round pick Maclin) in that fruitless trade for LB Will Witherspoon, who stayed a Bird just one season before moving on.

Good signing if the Eagles are looking to have the smallest WRs in the NFL...and he ain't "The Poor Man's Wes Welker"...Amendola is "The Poor Man's Brian Hartline"...

Not another undersized player on this team please! Our size and intimidation factor is at an all time low; the trend must be reversed vs. exaserbated.

Wouldn't it be better just to mail it in this year and make sure we get a high enough draft pick for a franchise qb. We can always roll over all that cap space to next year.

He's a good third down option to go with the TE, a possession back, so why is everyone against getting a guy who averages 60 catches a year?

Because he's small, fragile, there are 5 other positions that need to be upgraded on this team, he caught 60 balls as the ONLY perimeter weapon on that team, and he's not particularly astounding at any one thing. We're all tired of seeing the plucky guy on this team. Get us some studs, please..
