Former NFL linebacker Shawne Merriman is still working out the details of his contract with WWE, according to a report from TMZ.com.
The WWE reportedly wants to bring Merriman in as an announcer after his impressive performance during the WrestleMania pre-show. Merriman has done television work before, specifically for the NFL Network.
Merriman will also train at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Fla. to potentially become an in-ring talent as well.
Merriman spent nine seasons in the NFL where he played for the San Diego Chargers and the Buffalo Bills. Merriman earned three Pro Bowl nods and was named first-team All-Pro in 2006 after he racked up 17 sacks in only 12 games. He also defended eight passes and forced four fumbles.
He missed the final four games of that season after he was suspended for violating the NFL’s steroids and related substances policy.
