Eagles coach Andy Reid today said that Pro Bowl DE Trent Cole could miss as much as a month, according to reports, with a "significant" strained right calf suffered late in Sunday's loss to the Niners.

Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters' strained left hamstring, suffered on the last offensive play Sunday, could cost Peters "significant" time, too.

King Dunlap confirmed that he will start for LT Jason Peters (hamstring) this week, and expects to start next week, too. Peters is expected to return after the bye.

Reid said in bothCole and Peters' cases, "the next couple of days will be very important." He said both players are "very sore today."

Asked about the importance of losing two Pro Bowl players, one on each side of the ball, Reid said, “I expect other guys to step up and play. If somebody goes down, the next guy steps in and let’s go.”

Also, DT Antonio Dixon tore his left triceps and is out for the season. That makes a total of four defensive linemen (Juqua Parker, ankle; Darryl Tapp, pectoral strain) with injury issues.

Reid said Tapp has made "quite a little bit of progress" and should be out on the field for practice Wednesday. He said Tapp is "very close" to returning.

Parker also is "getting better." Reid said it was unknown yet whether Parker would be able to return to practice.

Lemme see ... the Eagles have now lost their best Offensive lineman AND their best Defensive lineman, along with their best run stopper.

What could be wrong with this picture??? ...

You're a speciesist. You don't give a thought to the hundreds of thousands of cows, pigs and chickens murdered every year for our dinner tables, but it's a horrible crime when it comes to dogs because they're cute and fun. There is no logic or reason behind your moral indignation.

Get over it you hypocrite. He did the crime and did the time, and he continues to make amends, above and beyond what was required of him. Try looking in the mirror, if you're perfect then maybe, maybe you can be morally outraged and then turn the channel, that's your right. Nobody deserves a second chance except you right? I hate hypocrites.

Yes MV did his time but It doesn't change that it takes a real sick animal to do what he did. It's how he is wired. Are all 52 of the other players on board with MV as the leader? Maybe one who would love to see him get his clock cleaned? There must be at least one human on the eagles!

Not as sick as it is for human being to do that and more to other human beings. Those crimes show just how badly wired some folks are.

You're wrong as well, the "CURSE" actually comes from having fans like you. If you don't like him, here's an idea........ don't watch the games or spend time reading and writing about him.

Actually there is bc3030. Cows, pigs and chickens are slaughtered with some semblance of humane treatment. They are not drowned, slammed by their paws into the ground, have electric probes shoved up their anuses, etc. Nor are they made to tear each other to shreds for the amusement and betting pleasure of their owners until they can no longer perform adequately.

Vick has paid his dues and should be allowed to pursue the rest of his life, but people who cannot get over his past, due to an emotional affection for their pets, should not be called illogical when the behavioral traits he displayed were borderline sociopathic -- which, like it or not, does not apply to meat-eaters nor the farmers who raise the livestock.

Well, you're right as in there's a big difference between torturing dogs and harvesting meat for human consumption. On the other hand, it's hypocritical to act all self righteous about harming animals when animals are harmed everyday so we can eat our cheese steaks and wear our coats, it's apples and oranges. Animals are tortured in the slaughter houses, no doubt about it, no less inhumane the way they are treated. Personally, I torture nothing, whether I eat it or walk it, nor do I judge another.

Stick a fork in them. The Eagles are done.

If they are really done, sticking a fork in them is superfluous. Besides, it would probably strain someone's calf or hamstring.

About Eagletarian Blog
Les BowenLes Bowen has covered the Eagles for the Daily News since 2002. Before that, he spent nearly 13 years covering the Flyers. It took Les only a few seasons after the switch to figure out that there was no penalty box at the Linc, and that the time really wasn't his, despite what Andy Reid kept saying. Les came to Philadelphia and the Daily News from Charlotte in 1983. In the intervening years, he has pretty much lost track of NASCAR, and his accent. He, his wife Barbara, and their two sons live in Haddon Township, New Jersey. E-mail Les at bowenl@phillynews.com and follow him on Twitter.

Paul DomowitchPaul Domowitch has been with the Daily News since 1982. He has spent most of his nearly 3 decades with the paper covering the Eagles and pro football. For the last 10 years, he’s been a selector for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. A native of Wilkes-Barre and a graduate of Wilkes University, Domo started his career in Texas, working first for the Midland Reporter-Telegram (1976-78), and then for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, where he covered some god-awful Texas Ranger baseball teams. His first beat at the Daily News actually was boxing, which he covered just long enough to lose 2 sports coats to blood spatter before moving on to football. Domo and his wife Shelley, a University of Oklahoma grad who still hasn’t gotten over that Fiesta Bowl loss to Boise State 5 years ago, have 2 terrific daughters -- Allison, 28, who is an attorney in South Jersey, and Amy, 25, who works in administration for a professional baseball team.
