Reid: Vick's our quarterback

Andy Reid was asked to clarify - again - if Michael Vick was still his starting quarterback after a response the Eagles coach gave during his Monday press conference was interpreted that Vick's job was in jeopardy.

"Michael's our starting quarterback," Reid said Wednesday.

Reid had actually addressed the confusion Monday afternoon during his radio show, saying that Vick was his quarterback, "period." Earlier that day, though, he made it seem as if Vick, who has turned the ball over nine times in three games, would be evaluated week to week.

"Right now, we're with Michael and that's what we're doing," Reid said Monday when he was asked how much longer before he may have to go with backup Nick Foles. "We'll evaluate as we go."

Reid said he spoke to Vick to assure him that he was still his starter.

"We spoke about it. It wasn’t anything serious," Vick said Wednesday from the NovaCare Complex as the Eagles prepared for Sunday night's game against the New York Giants. "We’re in a position where we have to prepare for this game and not [have] any outside distractions. We try to move forward.

"That's not what I had in mind," Reid said. "Derek explained to me how it was interpreted. I talk to Mike. ... Bad semantics there."

Still, many still believe that Vick will be on a short leash after struggling in two of the 2-1 Eagles' first three games. He was asked if he was worried about his job security.

"Not at all. I know it can be corrected," Vick said of his turnovers. "I know I can get my job done week in and week out. That’s what I’m focused on."

People, Eagles Fans, it is only week four of the NFL season, give it a break. Beating the Gaints should be the only thing we should all be talking about. Go Eagles!

You can't go far with ANY quarterback if you continually pass the ball 80% of the time and not mix things up with the run. Opposing defenses will "tee off" with blitz packages and apply shots to any NFL quarterback you use with the Reid/Mortewig offensive scheme.

Here’s an idea,,, always have a WR run a 2 yd slant so the Fraud I mean Vick can dump it when the blitz comes!
Not EVERYONE needs to run deep!!!! Idiots!!!!

    Vick = 7-9
With all this talent who needs a real defensive coordinator?

Morons. With any company, team, etc. problems start at the top. Shady touched the ball 5 times in the first half of the Cardinals fiasco. FIVE TIMES. They came out with a play-action offense that was doomed before the Eagles left the locker room. The RUN HAS TO BE ESTABLISHED before ANY defense will fall for a play action, it's that simple. It's so easy to throw the QB under the bus. But when you investigate into what's REALLY going on, it all starts with the guys calling the plays. Do you people really believe Foles would have been able to do anything more than what Vick had with those same plays, with ZERO ADJUSTMENT BY MARTY WHATSOEVER with the same Cardinals defense throwing EVERYONE at the QB with receivers who couldn't get open to save their lives and an INJURED OFFENSIVE LINE???!!! Really???? He would have been murdered as well. It all starts at the top, people. Andy and Marty will NEVER get it. They HATE running the ball and will never change. They have this unbelievable denial that the pass-first will eventually work. Well....IT WON'T!!! And QB after QB will suffer for it....as well as our running backs career stats. FIRE THEM.

Vick is the aging Tebow. Holds the ball to long waiting rather han anticipating receivers getting open. Unfortunately at 32 he can't escape when his blocking breaks down. The sidearm delivery is an accident waiting to happen as has been shown the first three weeks. This team will not win a thing with him at the wheel and Andy at the helm. My dad died at 81 waiting for a Superbowl win at 65 I think I am looking at the same fate.

The Con-Vick, dog-killer metaphors are getting old. My take is that Andy is trying to fit a round peg into a square hole as one writer described. He will never be a credible NFL QB because he lacks the skill set to analyze defenses. He was not brought up that way and only now is being coached that way. While his arm is strong it is erratic and with him being encouraged to be a "pocket passer" it is simply not in his skill set. And stop with the "fact" he is owed $100 million dollars. His signing bonus has already been paid to him so the Eagles can cut him at the end of the year and owe him nothing.

Reid did the same thing with McNabb. No matter how bad McNabb wold do, Reid would not adjust, he just remained stubborn

Vick will be Andy's QB until either 1) Vick gets hurt, or 2) Andy changes his mind and searches the other 88% of his brain he does not use to find an excuse to go with Foles. This is a team in trouble, and it's not only at quarterback.
    --
An aging QB who cannot change "his game;" an offensive line already full of holes due to injuries; a banged-up receivers corps; and overall a defense that cannot keep teams in the game for long.
    --
Then we have coaches, all of whom are beholden to Andy for their jobs. Don't rock the boat, just go along to get alone. Marty calls the same plays over and over because he agrees with what Andy wants; and since he has little initiative or original thought (see above), he doesn't do anything different.
    --
Ownership, that has one goal in mind: make money, and fleece the "fans."
    --
I don't think anything will change. This weekend is going to be a disaster, unless Coughlin is still having a hissy fit over the Bucs' "dirty" play, and half the team doesn't arrive.
