Reid: Maclin has hip pointer
Daily News staff
Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin suffered a hip pointer during Sunday's 17-16 win over Cleveland, Andy Reid said at his day-after news conference on Monday.
"He has a little bit of a hip flexor there, too," Reid said about Maclin. "The hip pointer, with those things they hurt you more the next couple of days. He battled through it. You have to give him credit for it."
Reid did not indicate if Maclin will miss Sunday's game against Baltimore. If he does, Reid said Riley Cooper (collarbone) will not replace him.
"It was good to get a win in," Reid said. "I thought defensively we came out and played very well, really in all phases of defense, against the run and pass. I thought the defense set a great tempo. They played fast and furious football."
Reid also talked about Michael Vick's performance. "Michael took the blame yesterday," Reid said. "It wasn’t a one-man show. Everybody had a piece of this pie. From me to the coaches … to the play-calling, the penalties. … You start looking at 456 yards of total offense and you’re not putting it in the end zone, that’s ridiculous.
"Everybody had a piece of this. It’s always going to fall on the quarterback's shoulders. He takes the responsibility and he takes it to heart. But when you put on the tape, everybody has to do their job."
Glad to see some positive comments. It's very easy to be negative, and call for players' and coaches' heads on the block. We did get the win. I'm sure wolfie, bedpan, et. al. will call the positive folks kool-aid drinkers, idiots and worse. But we at least can enjoy the win. Sure, there are some things that concern me about the Eagles, but I keep hoping they get them fixed. Right now, the Eagles are UNDEFEATED! dlscholt
EAGLES HAS THE WORST FANS IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL. ALL YOU GUYS TO IS COMPLAIN. ALL YOU GUYS DO IS MOAN AND GROAN ABOUT VICK AMD ANDY. A REAL FAN IS A FAN WHO SUPPORTS THEIR TEAM THROUGH THICK AND THIN. THE EAGLES WILL WIN A SB......WHEN? WHEN THEY START GETTING SUPPORTIVE FANS. ROBBIEROBMVP- I don't usually read the comments in these stories and now I am reminded of why...Great post buddy. The mean/negative fans are the reason we still don't have our super bowl. Nailed it!
Didn't you hear Ronde Barber thanking the Eagles fans for the win as he streamed down the field in 2002? Jdub1981
What's everyone concerned about? That's 9 straight wins for the Eagles dating back to last year. Hottest team in the NFL. Re-up Reid and Vick for another five years a piece. You know what, make it six. guyguy4

I love the way this team has the best running back in football yet they open the game up with 6 straight passing plays! GOLD STANDARD! citysims
Arrogant Andy would rather risk losing, throwing the ball 60 times, than win convincingly by running the ball. No other way to say it, Reid's on a huge ego trip and believes he is some sort of genius with the passing game. Defensive Coordinators must laugh at how stupid Reid is, having a stud like McCoy stay in and block LBers for a panic stricken Vick. I hope Lurie is a man of his word, because if things remain the same, 8 and 8 looks like a sure thing, ! We'll definitely know better after the game with the Ravens. I'm sure Flacco will have a better QB rating than 5. cooperhawk
The guy calling the plays stinks, not the guy passing the ball!!! How about some protection for the QB. Pass, pass, pass you think the defense didn't know what Vick was going to do??? We have got to have the most brain dead coaches. RUN THE BALL!!! jmb53

You got that right!!!! It is glaring error on Andy's part to stick with the passing game and ignore the run which was working. At the very least he is "Challenged" in the aspect of calling the shots during the game. Clock is ticking Andy........Tick---Tock!!! SpokaneFlyer
VICK PASSER RATING - 51. 3rd worst out of 28 QBs. Behind several rookies and even more 2nd year QBs. I can't imagine Foles could have been any worse. GoBirds!!!!! gobirds17
For all of you pessimistic people out there, maybe you should do a little more research about something before you go pointing fingers! The Eagles put up the most offensive yards in the league yesterday, and also gave up the fewest yards in the league. Everyone keeps firing at Andy Reid, and really, it has nothing to do with him when it comes to turnovers(5) and penalties(12). You can only teach a guy so much when it comes to throwing interceptions and committing penalties. Obviously Vick was the main reason they only won by 1 with him throwing 4ints. And, yes McCoy should have gotten more carries, but if you remember, how many runs and catches of McCoy's got called back because of penalties, which kept putting more and more pressure on Vick to convert on 2nd or 3rd and long??? McCoy would've had more touches, if the line could've stopped holding. Don't go blaming Reid when he actually called a good game, and as much as I would like to see Foles and what he can do in real game action, he's just not ready yet. There's no need to rush him in and possibly ruin him somehow. Sometimes you gotta stop and think about what the problems REALLY were, before you get on here and start blabbing about a game you probably didn't even watch the whole time! huntnmike3666
I hear Andy Reid and Rubin Amaro are going to co-author a book on how to razzle-dazzle a sports franchise with big buck signings. fafink
