Reid: Eagles ready to compete for championship

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- As is the custom, Andy Reid was asked the annual question as to whether the Eagles are ready to compete for a Super Bowl championship this season.

His answer: "Yes. That’s what makes it exciting. I think we have a good group coming back. As long as we build on what we did (late) last year, which I think is important in this case. Every year is different. I understand that. But we’ve got to take the momentum that we finished with and build on it and continue to get better."

The Eagles won the last four games of the regular season to finish 8-8, as you remember.

Owner Jeffrey Lurie after the season made a reference to those wins as being "fool's gold."

More to come ...

52 years of failure and Reid's been at the helm for 25% of them.

Primed For A Title Run? Ready To Compete For A Championship?... Is this a joke? I'm just hoping the we wont be embarrassed two years in a row. 4 garbage wins to end the season making us 8-8. Yea we're primed alright. Primed to go deep, take dives, miss tackles, to be outcoached, miss field goals, for vick to get hurt, for juan to say it'll work out it always works out, primed for andy to say 'listen', 'my responsibility', 'high motor'... and for these journalist to continue to have their heads buried in the sand. Let's go Phillies, Let's go Flyers.

Sigh! Andy's annual bold statement. Thirteen years and counting. What makes it so bad is those are games he should have LOST not won.

I am so tired of hearing Super Bowl and Eagles in the same sentence. Only teams that have actually won a Super Bowl should talk about winning Super Bowls. THE EAGLES HAVE ZERO!!! JUST LIKE CLEVELAND AND BUFFALO! WE'RE LOSERS!!!

The accounting firm of Banner, Roseman and Reid invented the game of football. They've been toying with the rest of the league for the last 13 years. This season is when they're going to put it all together. Probably an undefeated season. Get on board now.
