'Real stretch' for DeSean to play Sunday

POSTED: Monday, October 18, 2010, 12:26 PM

Eagles coach Andy Reid said it is a "real stretch" for injured DeSean Jackson to play Sunday against Tennessee.

Jackson suffered a concussion yesterday against the Falcons. "DeSean Jackson has a concussion," Reid said. "He is in the training room. He is in good spirits."

Reid also dismissed reports that Jackson suffered memory loss.

"You get hit like that, you're not going to remember everything," Reid said. "He remembered his touchdowns, he didn't  remember the hit."

Reid also said Kevin Kolb is his likely starting quarterback against the Titans, indicating that Michael Vick would not be healthy enough to play.

Makes sense on both counts. Why push Vick with Kolb performing well? And Jacksons not playing is no surrpise. I'm glad it's not as bad as it looked when both players were laid out on the field.

Let Djax rest and come back after the bye, same with Vick. The season's long, let these guys get healthy.

Kolb should continue to start based on his performance the last 2 weeks but he should never EVER throw that late over the middle to Jackson again. And shame on Reid/Morningwheg for running Jackson on a shallow crossing route like that. He is way too small. Run him on DEEP crossing routes and run Avant and Celek underneath like that. Kolb/Reid may have seriously hurt Jackson's career, earning potential, and quality of life AFTER football with that stupid play.

The sad part about the Jackson injury is that if Kolb had looked right, he had McCoy wide open with nothing but green in front of him. I realize that was easier to see from the 200 level than the field. I'm just making an observation.

That was one play where we have to lay some blame at Kevin Kolb's feet. Speaking of feet, Kolb should have pulled a Donovan McNabb and thrown the ball at DeSean Jackson's feet. There was no time for Kolb to look elsewhere, he was in the process of being sacked. He got rid of the ball, but that one should have actually been a worm-burner... not a completion that would get your receiver killed.

It's easy to criticize that play from the stands. All 3 of the players involved were trying to make a play...Kolb under heavy pressure to get the pass off, Jackson to catch the pass knowing he was going to be hit hard, and Robinson trying to break up the play. Do I think Kolb may have been better throwing it away? Sure. But that is easier said than done in the heat of a game, esp. for an inexperienced QB. He didn't see McCoy at all either unfortunately. But to BLAME in this situation is futile...it was a combination of 3 guys trying to make a play.

What the Eagles need is to bench Kolb and Vick and let all of the poster play QB. They would never lead a receiver into a hit, miss a wide open receiver or throw an interception. All posters have laser arms and clearly know more about the game than anybody wearing a jersey on Sunday. Eagles superbowl drought is simply solved by having a tryout among poster on philly.com.

Truth you would not know the truth if someone shoved it down your throat. There must be something you know something about, go write about it and leave sports alone. You are in way way over your head dude.
