Nnamdi Asomugha given walking papers by 49ers
The odd man out in San Francisco appears to be Nnamdi Asomugha.
San Francisco 49ers cornerback Eric Wright will return this week from an absence due to "personal matters," reports NFL.com's Ian Rapoport. The team will need to free up space to make room for Wright in their mostly high-functioning secondary, and the odd man out appears to be Nnamdi Asomugha.
Asomugha failed to make an impact on San Francisco's defense, and has spent the season being replaced by younger, less proven players. With the addition of Wright, the 49ers' vulnerable spot will gain some stability in the season's second half.
Thus continues Asomugha's fall from grace after an explosive 2011 season with the Raiders, followed by his well-documented plummet in Philadelphia last season.
