New York Post Dogs Vick

POSTED: Monday, December 20, 2010, 6:06 PM

Questioning the bounds of good taste, the New York Post came up with another doozy of a backpage headline and photo illustration in Monday's edition after the Eagles shocked the Giants and the Big Apple with a 38-31 comeback victory on Sunday.

There is no need for further explanation. Here it is. Discuss.

How is this any different then when the Daily News posted something to the effect of 'who let the dogs out' when the Birds signed Vick. Both papers are tabloid oriented and need to sell papers in order to fuel Gonzo's drug habit.

just making sure everyone remembers this is a person who enjoyed the torture and murder of helpless animals. Keep cheering for this scumbag because he's a good football player.

So, what is your take on Rothliesberger...or Brett Myers......rapist and woman beater....far worse than anything you can do to a dog..........The man did his time, lost everythig and is doing the right things on and off the field...you sound like one of those people who just won't let something go...I bet you still hold grudges over something that was done to you my mommy or daddy, huh? Let it go......for your own sake.......

Oh yeah. Poor Vick "Lost Everything". Makes him sound like he was the victim, not the perpetrator. And now he wants the court to rescind one of the conditions of his release and let him OWN a dog?

Yes, I know he's a great football player, and I won't deny him that.

As far as him "doing the right things on and off the field" - well, he's supposed to be doing the right things. He gets paid to do the right things on the field, and quite handsomely, I might add. As far as off the field, he's doing what he agreed to do by the court's requirements - nothing more.

He has not straight out "Manned Up" to say he personally committed malicious, cruel and atrocious acts. Taking ownership of all of one's actions - good and bad - is part of being a responsible adult. He's admitted to funding the dogfighting operation, not continues to deny the allegations of actually being involved.

Forgiveness is something to be earned, not just given.

Vick's prowess on the football field has absolutely nothing to do with earning forgiveness for repeatedly smashing dogs into the ground, breaking their backs, hooking them up to car batteries to be electrocuted, strung up to die a slow death by hanging until asphyxiated, drowned and so forth.

I'm sure that some fans will question whether I hold grudges for my parent's actions when I was a kid, and whether I serve any purpose on earth, etc. So here's the answer. I've forgiven my parents for most of their actions, and for those I haven't "forgiven" them, at least I understand the reasons and we've moved past. And for serving a purpose on earth? I'm no saint, but I do my part. I work and am therefore self-supporting. I teach and volunteer in my spare time, including rehabbing supposedly unadoptable dogs - one of which went on to earn the Canine Good Citizen certification from the American Kennel Club.

He ain't the first alleged scumbag I have rooted for, and he probably won't be the last. And right now, he is my FAVORITE one. At least he can be one and still have a positive effect on a community, as well as play football. What purpose do you serve on earth, birdsfaninnc? I mean besides getting on true Eagles fans nerves? So basically that makes YOU a worthless scumbag. Go figure. Go Mike Vick!!!

I'm not a football fan. But Vick only did time for BANKROLLING the fighting. He STILL has not done time for the actual crimes of dogfighting, abusing animals, etc. Most people just don't realize that.

Nothing wrong with the cover. Vick is a good football player. And he is a pos dog-killing felon. Both can be, and are, true.

I just don't get the big deal. Everyone makes mistakes, and he paid for his by losing everything. What about the nitwits who cause thousands of dogs to be euthanized each year by not spaying their animals and overpopulating dogdom with hyperactive inbreds that can't be controlled. Worry about that, and leave Vick alone as he is now a reformed dog lover as well as the best QB in the NFL.

Look, cheer if you want to, but stop calling it a mistake. Something you do over a long period of time, over and over again, is not a mistake. My kid makes mistakes on his math homework - the fighting, torture and murdering of dogs is not a "mistake". He lost it all because he behaved like a moron. With millions and millions of dollars in his hands, he could have afforded anything for pleasure - ANYTHING. He made the decision to get pleasure from tormenting animals. Go figure.

The photo is actually pretty funny. We all need to lighten up on this whole thing. Vick bred fighting dogs and fought them. It was a horrible act and he's paid the price for it as far as I'm concerned. Time to move on and focus on Michael Vick part II.

Could someone let me know whether this blog criticized the Daily News for the "Top Dog" headline back in September?
  • 0 like this / 0 don't   •   Posted 11:59 PM, 12/20/2010
The cover is not surprising to me. The truly surprising thing it that it comes from the city of thieves (Wall Street). Where the thieves profit from ripping off the unsuspecting public. Wall Street is a Ponzi scheme that dwarfs Madoff's. In addition it is the only falsely subsidized from in gambling in America. The city and the media profit by means of taxation and advertising. This city cares only about it's own welfare. The city and it's thieves brought America to its knees then begged the taxpayers to save it from itself. Then you smiled and walk away thereby taking advantage of America once again.

Correction...It (Wall Street) is the only subsidized form of gambling. When the market drastically drops The Federal Reserve Bank step lowers the prime lending rate to entice the Market to invest to bring the market back. This is why it is a falsely subsidized from of gambling. The stocks are truly worthless on their own

Hey BadMotherUpper - Check yourself. While Michael Vick is having a helluva season, it doesn't change what he did in his off-the-field life. There are plenty of Eagles fans that forgive and plenty that don't forgive. Just because you choose to forgive (and my guess is that it has something to do with his performance on the field), it doesn't give you the right to judge others' feelings. I've been a diehard Eagles fan for 30+ years. I root for the team every week. I bleed green. Doesn't mean I have to forgive and like a guy that murdered innocent animals, knowingly gave over 10 women herpes, has been caught multiple times with illegal drugs, and stole $5 million dollars 2 months before declaring bankruptcy. Michael Vick...outstanding football player...piece of sh*t as a human being. If he turns his life around and becomes a productive member of society off-the-field LONG-TERM, I'll gladly change my opinion and praise the guy. That said, 18 months out of the clink while behaving for a new contract doesn't exactly qualify as permanently changed.

Yes, I do worry about all the pet overpopulation and the folks who breed their animals for all the wrong reasons. Both of my dogs are spayed and several families I know have spayed their animals once they understood the enormity of the problem. But Vick still won't admit to anything beyond "funding" the dogfighting. How is that showing remorse?

Actually, he only paid the price for funding the dogfighting. He continues to deny that he actually took part in fighting and cruelty to the animals "personally".
