Eagles starting strong safety Nate Allen didn’t practice for the second day in a row, but coach Andy Reid wasn’t ready to rule him out for Monday’s game in the Superdome against the New Orleans Saints.

“We are going to take it all the way up to game day to see how he does,” Reid said after today’s practice at the NovaCare Complex.

David Sims would take Allen’s place if he is unable to go.

Reid said that receiver-return man Mardy Gilyard (hamstring) and guard Danny Watkins (ankle) didn’t practice and are out for this week.

Everybody else practiced.

On Friday Eagles defensive tackle Mike Patterson told The Inquirer that he would receive his first playing time of the season against the Saints.

The team has yet to confirm that, but Reid said a decision would be make sometime tonight.

After suffering a seizure during a training camp practice in 2011,Patterson appeared in 15 games last season and then underwent brain surgery in January to remove an arteriovenous malformation.

The eighth-year defensive tackle and former first round draft choice began practicing with the team on Oct. 22.

“I am really anxious,” Patterson said after today’s practice. “More than anything, I am excited to get back out here.”
