You would think that after winning the NFC East in his first year as a head coach in the NFL, Chip Kelly should have a pretty healthy amount of respect heading into the 2014 season.

Apparently, NFL.com doesn't see things that way.

In his preseason head coach power rankings published Wednesday, Elliot Harrison has Kelly at No. 18 out of the 32 league-wide.

Among the men ranked higher: Rex Ryan, Marvin Lewis, Jeff Fisher, Tom Coughlin and Andy Reid.

Yes, really.

I can understand putting guys like Bill Belichik, Pete Carroll and the Harbaugh brothers high up. But you'd have a hard time convincing me that Kelly is worse than a lot of the guys who are above him on the list.

Oddly enough, Harrison is quite complimentary of Kelly:

Kelly is a man who could shoot up this board awfully quickly. His first year in Philadelphia was a smashing success, as the Eagles won 10 games and took the NFC East title in the process. Kelly's explosive offense lived up to the billing, ranking second in the NFL and causing other teams to look at tempo more closely on both sides of the ball.

As you'll see from the list, Harrison was not nearly as nice to Ryan, Lewis and Fisher in particular.

I'm sure Kelly won't need any more motivation than he already has when training camp starts next week. The Eagles are the reigning division champs and are probably the favorites to repeat. If nothing else, a second straight division title would silence any remaining critics about Kelly's skills and methods.
