Michael Vick still below baseline on concussion test, would start if healthy

Michael Vick still is below the baseline for the ImPACT test that measures cognative funcition after a concussion, Eagles coach Andy Reid said Monday. Reid said Vick is "improving" and will start at quarterback against the Panthers if he's healthy.
"We'll see how he does this week," Reid said.
Rookie Nick Foles struggled as Vick's replacement on Sunday. Reid saw positives in in Foles' performance, but also saw why Foles is a rookie who was not selected until the third round.
"There were some good things he did and there were some things he could definitely learn from," Reid said. "He made some good throws, some good tight, throws early that I thought were some pretty good plays. But he's a young guy, rookie."
- Riley Cooper has knee inflammation, but should be able to practice this week. Cullen Jenkins has a foot sprain, but he should be able to practice this week.

Exposing Foles to the punishment that Vick takes will ruin the kid before he is able to catch on to the speed of the game. This isn't the time to dump on Foles, but don't expose the rookie to the current Eagles offensive line.

We all know Vick is done as a starter. Forget the O-line dodge, he was holding on to the ball far too long even when the line was intact. Give the kid the rest of the season and gauge the progress. - If Andy is going to start Vick when he's healthy, then i think Lurie needs to step in and tell him NO. We should be trying to lose every game and finish 3-13. Getting the best possible draft pick is crucial to rebuilding, along with letting Foles get valuable reps. Shady should also take a backseat to Brown, Polk, and Havili. Vinny Curry, Curtis Marsh, Brandon Hughes, and the safety Sims among others should all get significant playing time. Andy is clearly finished here and by refusing to bench the veterans(who clearly deserve it anyway) he's making a huge mistake, which is pretty much all he's good for now.— Stephen45

- Coach Reid should have protected his QB something he has NEVER done. You protect and help your QB out by having a balanced running game. McNabb, Westbrook, Tra and Runyan make up for his simplistic game plans and unbalanced attacks. Vick cannot throw a screen, he holds onto the ball to long and cannot read a blitz....His Oline and the coach he picked for it is a mess...he defense is just ....non existant. - Reid will play Vick if he can. Reid knows he will be the target of the fans this Monday in front of a national TV audience. Playing Vick will put another boo target out there and deflect some from himself. Also Vick gives him the chance to do something exciting to keep the fans at bay. - The last thing this franchise needs is Vick to come back and win a couples cheapies at the end of the year and instill false in the fan base like they did last year. This teams need landscape changes in both coaching and personnel. And Vick should be the first to go. He can't read defenses, pick up blitzes, and consistantly hit targets in stride. Jeff Lurie....if you have a grain of sense...you need to save your team before you have no one who can play football. Making Fole throw that much in his first game was another way to potentially hurt him physically - certainly make him more gun shy.— 5thstrretpast - It hardly matters.
