Michael Vick still below baseline on concussion test, would start if healthy

Should Andy Reid “cop out” and step down?
Yes.
No.

Michael Vick still is below the baseline for the ImPACT test that measures cognative funcition after a concussion, Eagles coach Andy Reid said Monday. Reid said Vick is "improving" and will start at quarterback against the Panthers if he's healthy.

"We'll see how he does this week," Reid said.

Rookie Nick Foles struggled as Vick's replacement on Sunday. Reid saw positives in in Foles' performance, but also saw why Foles is a rookie who was not selected until the third round.

"There were some good things he did and there were some things he could definitely learn from," Reid said. "He made some good throws, some good tight, throws early that I thought were some pretty good plays. But he's a young guy, rookie."

- Riley Cooper has knee inflammation, but should be able to practice this week. Cullen Jenkins has a foot sprain, but he should be able to practice this week.

Exposing Foles to the punishment that Vick takes will ruin the kid before he is able to catch on to the speed of the game. This isn't the time to dump on Foles, but don't expose the rookie to the current Eagles offensive line.

Foles looked more like Kolb than he looked like himself in the Pre Season.

Illogical move, continue with the Foles evaluation to determine the QB path forward. We all know Vick is done as a starter. Forget the O-line dodge, he was holding on to the ball far too long even when the line was intact. Give the kid the rest of the season and gauge the progress. Wins with a lame duck QB (Vick) only ruin the draft position.

Oh, please!! I thought we were done with this animal being our QB. I hope his head is still throbbing and he's in terrible pain. Go away already, Vick! I CAN'T STAND YOU!!!!

Vick will be retired by the time this team is rebuilt to win, playing Vick is a waste of time. Play Foles, if he is worth keeping as a future QB, he will show it. He'll learn a lot more by playing than sitting.

If Andy is going to start Vick when he's healthy, then i think Lurie needs to step in and tell him NO. We should be trying to lose every game and finish 3-13. Getting the best possible draft pick is crucial to rebuilding, along with letting Foles get valuable reps. Shady should also take a backseat to Brown, Polk, and Havili. Vinny Curry, Curtis Marsh, Brandon Hughes, and the safety Sims among others should all get significant playing time. Andy is clearly finished here and by refusing to bench the veterans(who clearly deserve it anyway) he's making a huge mistake, which is pretty much all he's good for now.

And don't try to tell me that the FAT MAN really cares about the health and safety of his players!!! He would sacrifice his own mother if he thought it would personally benefit him. What a louse!

Stop with the protect Foles from this line... Wasn't Troy Aikman 1-16 behind a terrible line in his first year ... How was Troy after that? Even with Foles playing behind a bad line you can still judge his progress! Vick has nothing left to give - cut him now!

Mr Change, was Aikman a third rounder, no, he was much closer to being ready.
Vick will obviously perform better than Foles behind this line.

@2ndNlong- You sound like a parrot "he holds the ball to long", behind this line 0.5 seconds is to long. And the last statement which alludes to losing rather than winning to get draft picks is just plain idiotic.
@dundermifflin- You and people like you are just plain pathetic, you need to go find a life.

Vick? Are you kidding Andy? Stayu with the "Kid". At least we will know what we got at the end of the season. Then we can go from there. Just common sense.

Coach Reid should have protected his QB something he has NEVER done. You protect and help your QB out by having a balanced running game. McNabb, Westbrook, Tra and Runyan make up for his simplistic game plans and unbalanced attacks. Vick cannot throw a screen, he holds onto the ball to long and cannot read a blitz....His Oline and the coach he picked for it is a mess...he defense is just ....non existant. Im not sure if there is one player on D I would keep.

Vick and his attitude and play helped create this mess...let him finish it up. Be a man and finish this up. Suffer through the rest of the games as we fans must do.

No reason to start Vick. He is leaving and you need to see Foles. He has already taken far less hits and is alot younger and bigger as well, he is not a delicate little flower. Gotta see what he can do. If Andy tries to start Vick Lurie needs to step in.
