McNabb: I'm looking at 3 teams

With training camps set to open in about three weeks, Donovan McNabb still does not have a team.
In an interview with NBC SportsTalk, the former Eagles quarterback said he still plans on playing in the NFL.
"The most important thing for me is I have about three teams that I’m looking at - a team that obviously has a solid running game, has weapons on the outside, a defense that’s been playing well and playing well together and that’s ready to win right now," McNabb said.
The opening of the interview was very awkward (video below) as McNabb basically stared into the camera and tried to convince viewers that teams were interested in him. He didn't clarify whether he was looking for a starting or backup job, but he put the chances of his return at "80 to 90 percent."
On another note, McNabb was asked about Terrell Owens and specifically whether the Eagles would have ever reached the Super Bowl without the playmaking wide receiver.
"It’s tough to say. I think we would have," McNabb said. "We’d been there at the edge at the cuff for so many years. I think we were just kind of biting at the bit to get there. What we did was we brought T.O. in and that gave us that extra boost we needed to get there.
"I feel like we would have made it, yes. The fact that he did come over and help us and gave us that extra push that we needed on the offensive side, helped not only the offense, but helped the defense as well."
Of course, technically, the Eagles did get to the Super Bowl without T.O., considering Owens didn't play in the team's first two playoff games that year. But he obviously played a huge role in their 13-win season.
The question of what would have happened had McNabb and Owens played more years together is one of the great "what-ifs" in Philadelphia sports history. Earlier this offseason, during a radio interview, Brian Westbrook looked back on what could have been.
McNabb reached three NFC championship games before Owens and one after, but never again played in the Super Bowl.
He was asked to reflect on his time in Philadelphia and had positive things to say, but it's clear McNabb has been paying attention to the fact that the Eagles have not won a playoff game since he left.
"Obviously there are a lot of people in Philadelphia right now who would love to have that same success we had," McNabb said.
And finally, he was asked to identify the best player he ever played with. McNabb first said it was tough to pick just one, but eventually settled on Brian Dawkins.
"When you think of a great player who dominated the game at his position, when he was out on the field, everyone on the opposing side knew where he was lined up, I would say Brian Dawkins," he said.

He was better then Vick ever was, was good, sometimes very good but not great. Could have won with him but he was not a strong leader nor would he carry the team on his back. His biggest downfall was that martyr complex he picked up somewhere.— Sidewinder7- Phillyishome..excellent excellent post..bet these were the same eagles fans that wanted (weedhead) ricky williams instead of mcnabb..their football IQ not too bright..back when parity started in the nfl where any team could have won it. the eagles were one of consistent teams making it deep into the playoffs for 7 years..no they havent won a championship and its easy to say go win a championship but its harder to actually do it..ask peyton manning he has only one ring and he wasnt the reason in that super bowl why they won it.— bigjay215
- PhillyisHome, must have missed the Eagles Superbowl appearance. A better than legit chance, and the team leader is the worst player on the field. That game and his general stupid demeanor of treating important games like some pick-up game some where, is what cemented my Impressions of Donovan. He never acted like he cared. "We just want to go out and have fun playing the game", is a losers approach. Ask Tom Brady if he cares about "having fun". The lackadaisical attitude, combined with holding the record for the most balls thrown at the feet of his receivers makes Donovan a no better than average quarterback, who played with some pretty good teams.— meatman2

- There's a small group of haters here that whine and cry about every move and player any Philly team makes, always the same people, so don't waste your time talkin sense to them. McNabb was never the same after his knee got taken out, he was a mobile quarterback who threw better when he was moving, stats don't lie. I will always thank Donovan for all the great years and enjoyed many games at the Vet, and watching Donovan, well, he was almost as fun to watch as Randall....— TexasYankee

- McNabb never one a Super Bowl and certainly had his flaws as a player and person, but if you ever watched Mike Boryla, either Detmers, an over-the-hill Roman Garbiel, Doug Pedersen, Bubby whatever his name is, Kemp, Hoying, AJ Feeley, and many I have blocked from my mind, McNabb was an upgrade. even in the early 90s when Randall was around with Buddy as coach and they got blown out in the playoffs (Dallas?) and commentators said, "heard of a screen pass? anyone?", McNabb did all right in comparison. Yes, he should have played better in the Super Bowl, but I also remeber one Pats TD where no defensive giuy was anywhere near thre receiver—and the play started in the red zone. So, lighten. Can Don play now? No idea, probably not well. But he isn't Hitler. He came up short and has an ego. Does that also describe any posters here??— Horst Muhlman lives on in all of us
