LeSean McCoy was at Thursday's practice and should be eligible to play Sunday in the season finale against the Redskins.

McCoy missed Wednesday's practice with a slight ankle sprain but was back out there at running back a day later. He was listed as a limited participant in the practice report.

McCoy, chosen to start in the Pro Bowl earlier this week, is second in the NFL in rushing heading into this weekend's games. He trails the Jaguars' Maurice Jones-Drew by 128 yards. Jacksonville hosts Indianapolis at 1 p.m. Sunday, the same time the Eagles host Washington.

"I still think I can get it," McCoy said after practice. "It depends on what [Jones-Drew] does."

Told that the Jaguars were playing the 1-14 Colts, McCoy joked, "Aw, are you serious?"

Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg acknowledged Thursday that the Eagles have discussed the possibility of McCoy winning the NFL rushing title. Mornhinweg said the team would attempt to get McCoy the title but only within the framework of the offense.

Despite the meaningless game, McCoy said he wanted to play Sunday and wasn't worried that he could be susceptible to the same fate that befell Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, who tore his ACL last week.

"You can get hurt doing anything," McCoy said. "I don't really go into a game thinking I can get hurt."

Cornerback Asante Samuel (hamstring) missed practice and is unlikely to play Sunday. Last week, even though he was injured, Samuel observed practice. He wasn't in the team's indoor practice facility on Thursday, though. Eagles coach Andy Reid said Wednesday that it was a "stretch" that Samuel would be healthy for the finale.

Oh boy! I'm just waiting for all those comments saying this is a stupid idea, he has to be protected from serious injury, blah, blah, blah. If McCoy has a chance for the title, then he should go for it.

Ashamdi Samuel?...man he has one foot out the door! He isn't showing up to play in a meanigless game and wreck the chances of his remaining career.....as Ken "Hawk" Harrelson would say...."he gone!".....if you read between AR's lines it was more like, "we don't know, we don't care and bye-bye".....and McCoy is "eligible" to play Sunday? Shouldn't it be "able" or "expected" or "looking forward to playing" Sunday? Eligible?....Wha?

Hey Peter...here you go, so you're not disappointed. It is a bad idea because he doesn't really have a realistic shot at the title. Already down 128 and MJD will be going for it too, which means Shady will probably need 250-275 to get it...not happening. I love this guy and think he's now the best player on the team...silly risk in my opinion. Of course, I'm paranoid...so I'd sit Vick, Maclin, Celek, McCoy, Peters, Herremans, Jenkins, Asomugha, Babin, Cole. lol...so I couldn't even field a team. But in all seriosness, this guy is legit...being compared to the great Barry Sanders by several people...and it's a reasonable comparison. Shady baby!!
