Making sense of the Eagles inactives

Rookie Daniel Te'o-Nesheim will dress for the first time all season. Here are some quick thoughts on the Eagles inactives.

During training camp and in the preseason, Eagles coaches had nothing but great things to say about rookie defensive lineman Daniel Te'o-Nesheim.

But the third-round pick didn't dress for the first five games.

That changes today as Te'o-Nesheim is active with defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley sidelined.

Don't expect Te'o-Nesheim to fill the same role as Bunkley, though. The run-stopper alongside Mike Patterson on first and second downs will likely still be Antonio Dixon.

Te'o-Nesheim will likely rotate in on passing downs. Look for Sean McDermott to line him up in a variety of places, and don't be surprised if he drops back into coverage.

Here's the full list of Eagles inactives: Riley Cooper, Trevard Lindley, Keenan Clayton, Clay Harbor, Jason Peters, Jerome Harrison and Brodrick Bunkley.

With Mike Bell in Cleveland, that means Eldra Buckley is the backup running back. Joique Bell is also active. And with Cooper sidelined, Chad Hall will be the fourth wide receiver once again. He had one 9-yard catch last week.

Lindley was on the field quite a bit last week as the sixth defensive back.

Austin Howard is also active. The Eagles' backup linemen are Howard, Reggie Wells, and Nick Cole (assuming Jean-Gilles starts).
