Kevin Kolb could be in line to make his first NFL start next Sunday against the New Orleans Saints, with Donovan McNabb suffering a cracked rib in today's opener against Carolina.

Depending on how quickly the Eagles make a decision about McNabb and he feels, Kolb could get a full week of preparation with the first team for the first time.

"Well, I think I can go in there and show leadership," Kolb said after today's game. "The biggest thing for a backup quarterback is leadership. Not let the offense miss a beat. Just come in there and run it as smooth as it was before the injury and keep us clicking."

Kolb, a 2007 second-round pick, has struggled in both of his significant stretches of playing time in relief of McNabb. Yesterday, he was 7-for-11 for 23 yards and was sacked twice. His QB rating was 67.6 and he did not lead the offense to any points.

His struggles against Baltimore's voracious defense last November when McNabb was benched for the second half have been well-documented. The numbers: 10-for-23, for 73 yards, with two interceptions, including one returned 105 yards for a touchdown. His QB rating was 15.3.

"I'll definitely be excited (if he gets the start)," Kolb said. "I'm also a huge fan of Donovan's and I hope the best for him. He's a tough guy and he'll fight through it if he can."

Jeff Garcia is now available again after asking for his release from the Raiders. Let's not mess around.

Feeley, Garcia, there's plenty out there that know how to run the offense. And they have no choice, they need to get someone no matter what.

I don't see Donovan playing until after the bye week (week 4). I think we will lose next week to the Saints, beat the Chiefs the following week, and then go through the bye week. McNabb should be returning with a 2-1 record.

I predict they won't go after Garcia, but rather Feeley. The difference being, AJ played in camp and the preseason. That is, if they go after anybody.

Kolb is horrible. Answer me this KK supporters: If we sign Feeley tomorrow, who would you rather start next week- him or Kolb? Obvious answer

The Eagles still won't admit they made a mistake with this guy Kolb. Usually they get rid of people they think don't perform to the standard they are looking for. Keeping Kolb definately goes against this standard and they will have to explain this next Sunday. Expect more of Andy Reid's usual double-talk after the game.

Kolb may be able to show leadership, but is he able to complete a pass?? I haven't seen him show that....he looks lost out there. Get well quick #5 or bring in Garcia.

Can they appeal that 2-game suspension to Vick this week?!? If not I hope Andy still has AJ or jeff Garcia on speed dial. "I think I can...show leadership"??? I think not, but it will be interesting to see Kolb start a game.
