Jauron Expected to Talk to Browns

Following up on an earlier report, a source close to the situation confirms the Browns' interest in Eagles defensive backs coach Dick Jauron, who is expected to interview in Cleveland for the defensive coordinator job.
Jauron, a former Bears and Bills head coach, was on Browns president Mike Holmgren's Green Bay staff in the 1990s.
The Jauron-to-Cleveland rumor surfaced early in the week, even before the Browns hired Pat Shurmur as their head coach, which makes you wonder how much say Shurmur is going to have in building his staff.
Asked by the Daily News about the Cleveland possibility on Monday, Jauron laughed dismissively and said it was news to him.
Losing Jauron would further complicate the Eagles' defensive picture. Jauron brought some needed experience to young coordinator Sean McDermott's staff, though the results were hard to quantify, with the Birds' defense regressing from 2009 in many statistical categories. Eagles coach Andy Reid has said McDermott will be retained.

McDermott has gained his experience and it would probably be a plus for him to finally fly on his own wings...Addition by substraction.

- There isn't too much talent on our defense. You can blame the coaches, but I actually think the defense overachieved this year and I give the coaches credit for getting that much out of them.— hawk18
- I agree with hawk18. Where's the talent on defense? After Samuael and Trent (Mr. October) Cole, who did McDerott have? The Eagles have to be the only team that drafts SEC (and Miami) linemen in the first round and comes up empty. Compare the players that Jim Johnson had to what McDermott has to work with. Most of Johnson's players were drafted before the Reid era. Don't blame the coordinator. Blame the people that are drafting the players!— Mandela

- McDermont should be replaced. The defense has gotten worse under him. yes, they were young and had injuires, but he did not make adjustments during games with his players. I'd rather make Jauron the defensive cordinator of the Eagles.— 76er

- They Should Bring in Brad Childress or Mike Singletary if he does leave to work for the Browns. Mike would be a good hire because believe it or not he's really good with LINEBACKERS.
