Free agent defensive end Aaron Kampman agreed to terms with the Jacksonville Jaguars in the early morning hours, according to the Florida Times Union. Terms of the contract were not available.

So, you can cross another defensive end off the Eagles' board.

Just what level of interest the Eagles had and did his agent cancel a visit to Philadelphia or not don't matter now.

Perhaps, general manager Howie Roseman was trying to lower expectations for the Eagles to make a splash at the outset of free agency with this before the combine: "I think it’s going to be a great offseason. I would caution, it’s a marathon not a sprint … The opening day roster is the end of our offseason. We are going to grind and try to find aggressive ways to improve the team.”

The market for second-tier type players began to move Saturday, so perhaps something is coming, although the Eagles have not announced any pending free-agent visits.

I can't get much more disgusted with the Eagles, not making a move on any of the defensive ends that were available says to me that we are playing for 2011 and they're just lying down on 2010. Please don't say they will address this in the draft. They can't fill all they're holes in the draft and even if they could how long would they take to make an impact. Once again AR's arrogance is making me sick to my stomach, I am now hoping they will be last in the NFC east just so people will stop saying how great the AR is. Maybe he was to busy getting a hot dog and forgot free agency has started.

Their plan to improve is a trade for players or picks. Goodbye to one of the QBs unless AR lets his his stubborness get in the way

The Eagles aren't serious. How can you make ay other argument? Apparently the word is out around the league that , as a player , you cannot trust the management of the team. Good luck recruiting Andy,Jeff and Joe.

I guess the Eagles feel good about their Safeties too because Kerry Rhodes just went to the Cards for a fourth this year and a seventh next year. Seems like the Eagles could have made that deal just as easily, but why tinker with the best roster in football?

well they arent gonna compete in 2010 against that schedule no matter how many old overpriced guys they get, it wont matter. I think they are going to make a move , maybe trading McNabb which would explain the lack of signings. They have alot of money sitting around which could go towards some high draft picks guaranteed money right ? As long as they build for 2011/2012 I will be happy and that means getting rid of McNabb and drafting some potentially great D players that will be ready in 2012 when the lockout is over.

These non-actions are a great sign that the Eagles brass realize it is time to build a new set of core players. This includes trading McNabb. With one year left on his deal, the Eagles were either going to go for the gold and sign a bunch free agent vets or use 2010 as a year in which Kolb will gain experience along with many other younger players. Of course like any team, even a young team could get on a roll and go deep in the playoffs. I believe this retooling year is the best thing that could happen. Use the draft to build depth on the O and D line and get some LB and S to take us through this decade.

With the limited amount of free agents this year and an uncapped year, now was the time to overspend. And we did nothing. Watched the only three DE's worth anything sign elsewhere. The Giant's secondary stunk due to injury...yet they made a move. We can't cover a TE to save our lives and we do nothing. Due to the CBA, Dallas cannot make any moves. So now was the time to close that gap...and we do nothing. Reports are we're holding out for a 2nd rounder for Vick? Reid over values his talent again. Yeah, lets fill the holes in the draft...maybe they contribute in 2-3 years. That is the problem when Reid is not help accountable and had no fear for his job in the future. Pathetic start to the off season.

They aren't serious? Remember, this is the team that opened the books for TO, Kearse, and Samuels as soon as FA opened. Idiots.

You're correct trungy. This fan base is one of the dumbest in America. The only people who believe this fan base to be smart is this fan base.

Bringing up free agent signings from half a decade ago is pretty lame. The Samuels signing was a huge mistake. Don't be fooled by glamour INTs; that clown gets trucked on running plays and beaten often on double move pass plays. This team is a disaster. Only Washington will save them from the cellar next year.

Yea, you guys are rocket scientists, your right, not addressing the needs on defense is brilliant, thinking of re-signing Hank Baskett back is genius, it's just that the fans are too stupid to realize this. Letting Witherspoon go because Bradleys ACL is fine was also brilliant.......except that, wasn't that the same reason they didn't pursue Kampman ? Ooooooh let me guess you two rocket scientists are the ones that think every need can be addressed in the draft. That must be it because the Eagles are sooooooo good at picking talent. You guys should be coaching a pro team some where 'cause your just too smart to be a regular old fan. Maybe AR has a job for you guys.

Les BowenLes Bowen has covered the Eagles for the Daily News since 2002. Before that, he spent nearly 13 years covering the Flyers. It took Les only a few seasons after the switch to figure out that there was no penalty box at the Linc, and that the time really wasn't his, despite what Andy Reid kept saying. Les came to Philadelphia and the Daily News from Charlotte in 1983. In the intervening years, he has pretty much lost track of NASCAR, and his accent. He, his wife Barbara, and their two sons live in Haddon Township, New Jersey. E-mail Les at bowenl@phillynews.com and follow him on Twitter.

For the last 10 years, he’s been a selector for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. A native of Wilkes-Barre and a graduate of Wilkes University, Domo started his career in Texas, working first for the Midland Reporter-Telegram (1976-78), and then for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, where he covered some god-awful Texas Ranger baseball teams. His first beat at the Daily News actually was boxing, which he covered just long enough to lose 2 sports coats to blood spatter before moving on to football.
