** In case you missed it, everyone's favorite Eagle, L.J. Smith, is reportedly in Detroit visiting the Lions.

** Bob Brookover of The Inquirer caught up with Tra Thomas, who says the Eagles have shown "no interest" in bringing him back. Brookover speculates that a trade for Bills tackle Jason Peters could be a possibility for the Eagles.

** Les Bowen of the Daily News says it would be a "surprise" if the Eagles didn't have Shawn Springs signed when they hold a press conference with the free-agent cornerback today at 12:30 p.m. Brookover, however, reports that two team sources say the Eagles are in no hurry to get him signed. Check later today for developments on this front.

** Interesting piece by Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News. The Giants have made defensive line a priority this offseason, but Vacchiano says they are taking some risks. Per the article, New York spent $41 million on two players who have been arrested for domestic violence in the past year. There was an "investigation of domestic violence" for Rocky Bernard and an arrest for "domestic battery" for Michael Boley. Giants GM Jerry Reese told Vacchiano the incidents were "isolated issues" and that Bernard and Boley are "two pretty good people."

** Albert Haynesworth went on Michael Irvin's radio show and said the Giants offered him an $80 million deal.

** The Eagles aren't the only NFC East team that could use a safety. According to the Dallas Morning-News, it's high on the Cowboys' wish list also. Of course, Dallas still has to decide what to do with Roy Williams.

** Sally Jenkins of The Washington Post writes about the Redskins laying off workers and then spending $182 million at the start of free agency.

** Last night on Eagletarian, Les Bowen wrote about Brian Dawkins' comments on ESPN 950. You can click here to listen to the excerpt. Apparently the complete interview will air today at 10 a.m. On another radio note, Joe Banner is expected to join Howard Eskin today. should have excerpts from both interviews and reaction.
