Giants' Jacobs on 'lucky' Eagles; Reid on McNabb

POSTED: Thursday, December 23, 2010, 12:36 PM

The Giants had been a dominant rushing team in the weeks preceding last Sunday's game against the Eagles.

And then things changed. The Giants ran for 100 yards on 31 rushing plays, an average of 3.2 yards per carry. Five of those plays went for negative yardage. Of their 20 first downs, only three came on the ground.

Ahmad Bradshaw had 66 yards on 19 carries and Brandon Jacobs has 34 yards on 12 carries.

The reason?

"It’s a division opponent," Jacobs said yesterday. "They know what we do and we know what they do. They dialed up the right things at the right time. It’s kind of like Tecmo Bowl when you press the same button as your opponent and everything breaks down. They had the right blitzes dialed up against the right runs, and they got lucky."

**

Eagles coach Andy Reid was asked on a conference call with Minnesota reporters what he thought of the current situation involving Donovan McNabb in Washington.

"This is one of my all-time favorite guys," Reid said. "The things he did for this organization, for all of us here in this organization here, are just unbelievable. I wouldn’t ever have guessed that this would have taken place or expected it to take place, but it has and he will do like he does with everything and handle it peacefully and he’ll come out on the upper end of it."

**

And, here is Michael Vick on the prospect of an 18-game regular season:

"I totally disagree with it. Sixteen games is enough as it is and I think it’s not good for the players. I think it would only be detrimental for us and it would be tough."

It feels soo rewarding when your opponents whine and cry after getting beat up by my Eagles hahaahahah. Andy you expressed my sentiment perfectly about my favorite Eagle QB DMAC.. Maybe Mike has a chance to put him second..But Mike still has a few games to go before he earns that title IMH. Y'all know the deal weather it a top QB or RB. BEFORE they play the Eagles these OPPONENTS ARE FEARSOME, UNBEATABLE, NO CHANCE for the rook Chaney in that Giant game. Afterwards, We dispel their invulnerability, we never get the PROPS and the WHINERS AND Nay Sayers come out. THE Shudda, Cudda gang,, hahahha Soo Funny. Go Eagles. SEE U IN DALLAS.

Your ground game was actually better this time. So we were lucky, yup. You were lucky the Eagles replay wasn't working not allowing Reid to throw the replay flag or we would have won sooner. Yup, lucky. You see little Brandon, there's a degree of luck in every game. You can't control it. What you can control is your degree of suck. We sucked for three quarters. You sucked for one, but you lost the game. Guess who sucked more? Hope we see you in January.

Lucky? Tell Jacobs to watch game film of the second half. They gave up 316 yards in the air plus at least 150 on the ground. He's a punk.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! You were outplayed and the BEST TEAM ON THE FIELD won the game!! Your luck (2 non-fumbles by the Iggles and 1 fumble by Nicks) ran out with 8:17 left on the clock and you didn't touch the ball again!!!! I hope you play the Niners in the first round and lose loser!

Jacobs and the rest of giants are just like their fanbase. Whiny crybabies. No one talks like Jacobs and no one has come up smaller than Jacobs during their 6 STRAIGHT LOSSES TO THE EAGLES.

I'd think it were a problem if your starting RB starts comparing blitzing schemes to Tecmo Bowl... If it were McCoy saying something so utterly stupid after a lost game, we would be all over him...

Jacobs wasn't saying anything at all... he was saying we played the right plays against them. Calm down, dudes, before you all have heart attacks. Stop the hate. Who am I going to read out here if you're all dead from bursting arteries ? You know Jacobs wasn't saying anything outlandish... and by the way, all of us would take Brandon Jacobs tomorrow on our team. Keep the peace, comrades, and live another day.

Its going to be funny when the Birds get in the playoffs and loss. they never win a super bowl. At least the Giants have many Super Bowl victories. Talking trash on jacobs will just want to run right down your throat if we get you again. The Giants already hurt many of your players and knocked them on IR for the year. they can do it to many more of your players. You loser fans are the cry babies. Just wait when your out of the playoffs! I'll be laughing and all of us NYers will be writing to your Philly paper.

Jacobs sucks, so does Bradshaw. I don't know what the other teams that play the Giants do, but NY doesn't seem to be too good at running, period. I find it amazing that they have the ability to win most of their games, considering how poor they play on offense and the number of times the turnover the ball to opponents.

I guess their defense (when they aren't giving up 30-plus points) keeps them in most of their games - maybe its that, or maybe a whole lot of "luck," huh Jacobs?

luck: n. (lûk) good fortune or prosperity; a shEli qb throwing a blind pass to a receiver who miraculously traps it to his helmet.
CANT HAVE IT BOTH WAYS ny rb "looks like tarzan plays like jane vs. Eagles!

Glad to see Jacobs' comments. The Birds will need some bulletin board clippings if we have to play the Giants in the playoffs. For now I'll agree we were lucky, and hope to hold him in the 3rd game to 34 yards, either through luck or tackling.

Jacobs rant reminds me of how the Republicans acted when they were swept out of office in 2008. Sore losers that couldn't stand that a black President energized the nation against Republican tyranny, wasteful spending, and fealty to Big Oil and Haliburton.

Winning a coin toss is lucky. Stopping the run isn't. The Eagles are mentally tougher, made superior in-game adjustments, and have better overall team speed. Blown punt coverages aren't luck - they're a failure to execute the fundamentals, and facing someone as fast as D. Jackson doesn't help either. Statements like Jacobs' are indicative of the environment under Coughlin - a lack of team discipline. It also reflects on how Jacobs deals with failure. He denies accountability by chalking it up to bad luck. By the way, Reid consistently outcoaches Coughlin.

So, by Jacobs' reasoning, the Giants "got lucky" for 52 minutes, since they were destroying the Eagles, and THEY STILL LOST! He comes across like a big *%$&#-ing crybaby. I'd hate to see what happens when he doesn't get what he wants for Christmas.

Antrell Rolle says we got a christmas gift. Rocky Bernard is complaining about us being dirty & now this. This tells me this team isnt even close to getting over this loss and its going to affect them on Sunday. Their a bunch of soft punks who make excuses for their bad play. Just give respect to your rival & say they beat you fair and square; 6 times I might add.

And I heard NY people saying the Vagiants should have won the first game. NOT! I was there. We dropped three (3!) touchdown passes ( one each by Maclin at the goal line, Jackson in the same end zone, and Avant in the same end zone). I should know. I sit in Section 103, and it all happened right in front of my unbelieving eyes. Holla.

Lucky? Someone should remind Mr. Jacobs that three of the Giants' touchdowns this past game might not have happened if not for blown calls by the officials, or two, if the Eagles had challenged them. That seems quite lucky for the Giants, just like the Eagles' end zone drops in the first game. And if the "right blitzes" are "dialed up against the right runs," that sounds like good scheming as much as luck.

Wow, so according to Jacobs we got lucky twice? Considering they improved their ground attack by 60% over the last game what did he consider the first game performance by the Eagles run D, an act of God?? Suck it up Jacobs. Our run D deservedly got the better of you in both games. Now if we could just shore up that pass D....
