Executed? Vick?

Executed? Vick?
Phil Sheridan, Inquirer Columnist
Well, Michael Vick now has even more in common with Donovan McNabb than just his old job under his former coach. Just as McNabb was frequently blindsided by off-the-wall attacks (Rush Limbaugh, Bernard Hopkins, etc.), Vick last night took an unlikely shot from Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson.
Guest hosting Sean Hannity's show, Carlson noted that President Obama had praised Eagles owner Jeff Lurie for given Vick a second chance after his incarceration on charges related to a dogfighting ring.
"I'm a Christian," Carlson said, a preface that is often followed by un-Christian remarks. I've made mistakes myself. I believe fervently in second chances. But Michael Vick killed dogs and he did in a heartless and cruel way. I think personally he should have been executed for that. He wasn't."
Couple quick things: I was as critical of the Eagles for signing Vick as anyone in the local media. I still feel deep discomfort at the idea of Philadelphians -- my people, my family, my friends -- rooting for a guy who did the things he has admitted doing, just because he's a good football player. But executed? That's just batstuff.
Carlson went on, saying it was "beyond the pale" for the President of the United States to be "getting behind someone who murdered dogs." And so we see what this is really about -- the relentless and mindless need for some media members to attack Obama no matter what he says or does.
The political discourse in this country is conducted at levels below insulting. Good thing our sports conversations are so rational and civilized. Cough, cough.
Here's the video:

jgallo - A privilege? How did you come to such a nonsensical notion as that? Vick is playing in the NFL because his personal talent and skill generates many millions of dollars in profit for the corporation that is the NFL. It's not because of some kind of unearned privilege. Just accept that Vick is exceptional at his profession and will deservedly earn more in a single season than will you in your entire life. Get over it.

Didn't Jon Stewart shut this guy up once when he had his own show on CNN?
Every time I hear a political pundit on TV I feel smarter.
Tucker Carlson is good for my ego. Rick Wise Guy
Carlson and his wife Peggy are literally hated by their neighbors here in D.C. Those who know him would stop short of wanting to see him executed but flogging seems about right for tht boy. He's no man. Claudio Vernight
This is probably the first and only time the Libs will ever agree with anything said on Fox. I mean the majority of real Lefties do think animals are on the same level as humans. So, I guess they really are "Fair and Balanced" after all!!! sarah89
Let me ask everyone a question I guess its okay for the government to put liquor stores on every corner in the ghetto and to put drugs in the ghetto and make money off it but Mike Vick is labeled this monster for letting his buddies dog fight for money thats the reason why so his buddies can make money just like the government.... When you dog fight the dogs are so beaten you have to put them down like your gonna go to the vet and say can you save this dog thats like turning yourself in. PAPOOSE- Ummm @ papoose. What?!?!?!?!?!! LOL
Lisa10297 - Carlson is another faux news right wing loon. Vick served his time where he belonged. It's a dod gone shame. timagain

- Just keep posting that until we believe it? Like MSNBC did with you? You liberal zombie.
Who needs facts or examples, right? Just keep calling them crazy until the no-brained liberals repeat it on sites like this. You must be proud.
Wait a minute...is this Chris Matthews??? Congrats Chris...you've just reached quadruple your nightly audience on this page alone! smfree31
Don't agree with Obama or Carlson. The Eagles should not be praised for signing him. They lost my support when they signed him. To compare him with Stallworth is a sham. Stallworth took responsibility immediately after hitting a man who ran out in front of him on a highway. That could happen to anyone. "Big Ben" should be out of the league for life if he was convicted but the state never brought charges. Vick lied repeatedly to Arthur Blank, Goodell, and the feds until his case was a lock for conviction. He knew it was illegal because he kept "Bad Newz" quiet for all that time. Remember, this is the same Vick who knowingly gave a girl herpes and lied and failed a drug test between his conviction and his sentence. Now, he says he figured it out after the shooting at his birthday party. How many chances should he get? Hope he has changed - that will be one less dog killer out there.
JPCase- Ooooooo, the Eagles lost your support?? Oh nooooo, how will they ever go on!
oh, wait........ mlr710
Comment removed.- "Street thugs bring drugs into neighborhoods to make money, you dope" LMAO. You are the biggest dope Cuz. Just one question. Where does this dope come from? Are there MJ farms in the hood? Or have you ever been there, you know. in the neighborhoods? Or is that the opinion you developed from your couch from watching television? You're a fool. I give you a suggestion about where drugs actually come from, Cocaine Cowboys. And after watching it from the safety of your home tell me how the drugs get in this country and how it then ends up in, you know, the neighborhood. Then a book for you to read "100 years of lynchings". Talk to me then about animal creulty and who should be executed. Dope
Facts before ignorance
