The Eagles won’t match the Titans’ offer for free agent defensive end Jason Babin, according to a team source.

Even though Babin is an unrestricted free agent, the Eagles put a clause in his contract that allowed them to match any offer within seven days. Tennessee offered a one-year, $1 million contract for the 29-year-old.

The Eagles acquired Babin during training camp last season and he eventually worked his way into the end rotation. In 12 games, he recorded 20 tackles and 2.5 sacks.

Also, safety Sean Jones signed a two-year deal with Tampa Bay. Jones, who had 72 tackles and two interceptions for the Eagles last season, was an unrestricted free agent.

Babin did not show much last year. Definetly the right move letting him go.

safety was a mess last year. jones could tackle well sometimes. quentin demps should have stepped it up, especially after his pathetic display in the game to go to the super bowl the year before. instead, he regressed. a real issue.

I think they are making a mistake here - why don't they let Howard go instead - this guy is still young and was impressive in his role last year

Eagles defense was a mess last year. Johnson dies. Eagles say adios to Dawkins. Parker caught with dope to start Camp. Injuries to Bradley. Mass confusion at Safety (crummy DB coach from Dallas). Sean McDermtt was schooled by Dallas offense 3X. INstead, fans blame individual players. Looks like system ( Reid/McDermott management) is as much to blame as any individual...

Babin and Clemons I can see, though they weren't bad. Cutting Howard is going far -- cutting three veterans who could play. What's their plan if Cole, Parker and Abiamiri all get injured in Sept.? It's pretty clear Abiamiri will get injured.

How will they replace those hideous tattoos on the line? Hope Tapp steps it up with a full sleeve.
