Eagles in store for a uniform change?

POSTED: Friday, November 19, 2010, 6:53 PM

UPDATE: Brian McCarthy, who works in public relations for the National Football League, tweeted yesterday that the renderings of NFL uniforms were not by the league or Nike.

Here is McCarthy's tweet: @NFLprguy: just to clarify, the artist renderings of NFL uniforms floating around ARE NOT from the league or Nike. stand down

Last month, the NFL announced that Nike will become the league's official uniform provider starting in 2012, speculation began that there were some big wardrobe changes in store for your favorite team's uniform.

Nike has been supplying college uniforms for some time and the "Pro Combat" designs that they released this year have been very popular. You've probably seen them on the top-ranked Oregon Ducks.

Well, if Nike has their way, NFL jerseys could look a lot more like those in the college game.

Here is the link to a blog post by Sarah Ellison on baltimoreravens.com. Keep in mind, these are just sketches and do not reflect anything that the NFL has released, but it is fun to imagine.

Could this be what the Eagles look like when they run out of the tunnel in 2012?

My personal favorite? The Kansas City Chiefs. They're a bit over the top, but the helmet seals the deal. Take a look.

Disclaimer: Here is a link that discredits the report that these are future uniforms. Thanks to the commenters that pointed this out. I know these aren't really the new Eagles uniforms, but after seeing what Nike has done with college uniforms, they very well could look something like this.

I'd vote for either a throwback 80s type jersey, current colors, or make the black jerseys our home colors. This is just showy and ridiculous.

Will they allow fan feedback? Those are a joke Look like something from an old Flash Gordon serial. Just go back to the 1960 unis or the kelly green and silver, the real throwback, not the too bright version of opening game. I hope this was a joke.
    Wow.
