Eagles and Nnamdi Asomugha's agent to meet to discuss cornerback's future with the team

The Eagles will meet with Nnamdi Asomugha's agent, Ben Dogra, this morning at the NFL Combine to discuss whether the cornerback has a future with the team, a source close to the situation told The Inquirer.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Eagles will ask Asomugha's representative to either re-negotiate his $15.5 million contract or they will release him. But a source close to the situation said that the Eagles won't likely give Dogra an ultimatum today.
Dogra has significant leverage in that $4 million of Asomugha's salary is guaranteed. There is no offsetting language in the contract like there was in Michael Vick's deal that gave the Eagles some leeway to rework a deal with the quarterback earlier this month.
Vick was guaranteed $3 million, but a clause in the contract gave the Eagles an out in having to pay that number. Asomugha's $4 million, however, is fully guaranteed. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman won't likely want to pay that amount to a player that isn't on the roster.
But Asomugha's skills are clearly detoriating. The 31-year-old former Pro Bowler struggled through much of last season and has generally been a disappointment since the Eagles signed him to a five-year, $60 million contract in July, 2011.
The Eagles have a choice to make -- eat the $4 million, but cut $11.5 million from the salary cap and let Asomugha go, or try to work out a new deal with Dogra.
