Eagles running back Dion Lewis is on the trading block, according to NFL sources.

Lewis is behind LeSean McCoy, Bryce Brown, and Chris Polk on the team's depth chart, and those three all offer size and skills that fit coach Chip Kelly's system better than Lewis. At 5-foot-8 and 195 pounds, Lewis is smaller than the other running backs.

The 2011 fifth-round pick has 171 rushing yards on 36 career carries. His best game was the 2011 season finale, when he rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown. Lewis excelled early in training camp last season before an injury allowed Brown and Polk to take the backup spots behind McCoy.

It will be difficult for the Eagles to find a trade partner for Lewis. This is a challenging time of year to make a move, and running backs similar to Lewis can be found in the draft. Working in Lewis' favor are his age (22), his average of 4.8 yards per carry, and an impressive college career at Pittsburgh.

    Geno Smith visits

The Eagles are hosting most of the top-rated draft prospects this week, including West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith, who was at the NovaCare Complex on Wednesday.

Along with Smith, the Eagles brought in Brigham Young defensive end Ziggy Ansah for a visit, according to NFL sources. Oregon outside linebacker Dion Jordan and Central Michigan tackle Eric Fisher were slated to arrive in Philadelphia and meet with Kelly, general manager Howie Roseman, and the Eagles on Thursday, sources said.

Florida defensive tackle and Philadelphia native Sharrif Floyd was scheduled to work out for the Eagles on Friday, and Texas A&M tackle Luke Joeckel and Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner will visit next week.

Smith worked out for the Eagles last month in Morgantown, W.Va.

Jordan, who played for Kelly with the Ducks, recently underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum (cartilage).

The Eagles should offer all of Reid's guys back to him for market price. If he declines, he's publicly admitting he made a mistake with all of them, starting with a first-rounder for the Canadian firefighter.

SO glad they are getting rid of another ANDY midget! this man has no place on an NFL team besides 3rd string at BEST. Bryce Brown last year tore it up besides the fumbles, but ask Tiki Barber if fumbling can be fixed. PEACE OUT DIJON MUSTARD!

Yeah, when Kelly didn't mention him, it didn't look good for Dion. I wouldn't let him go so quick. See what he does in August. Won't get much in trade anyway. We don't know yet if Bryce Brown can actually hold the football; he just knows how to run.

They can get a stellar 11th rounder for him.

There are 31 teams out there. Have to figure that at least one would find Lewis worth a 6th. If not in this draft then 2014.

Having observed, I still tend to agree with Armchair - if there's not an imperative to trade him now, then don't. See how things play out in camp. Chris Polk (whom I liked at UW) couldn't even sniff the field last year. Who knows? ...

I'm with Santa Satan, I think the Eagles should petition the league to force Andy Reid to take some of the busts that he drafted, including the fireman and others. The Eagles should have some recourse for Andy's destruction of the roster. Because we all know it's not Howie's fault. How do we know? Jeffrey told us so.
