Serve, volley.

On Monday, as chronicled in Moving the Chains, the Giants' Osi Umenyiora was quoted in New York as saying that, yeah, yeah, the Eagles beat the Giants in the playoffs last year, but, "I wasn't playing and I saw the way it ended. It was a team we should have beat and it was a team that, if the opportunity arises again, we will beat."

On Tuesday, Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson replied.

"I had a chance to see him this off-season, hanging out with him a little bit," Jackson said. "He was, 'You know, I wasn't playing,' this and that. He's a very competitive guy. He's a great player. I don't take anything away from him. It's just unfortunate that he got hurt last year and wasn't able to play.

"But with him or without him, we are confident in ourselves. One player can't determine if they win or lose. As everybody knows, it's a team. You'll never know what would happen if he was there or if he wasn't there. All I know is that we got the victory and that's what I'm going to go off of. We've just got to get another two this year, or however many we play them...We went in their house and beat them twice. We understand what it takes."

Hey Osi - the Eagles didn't have their 2X Pro-Bowl G Shawn Andrews on the field. Maybe if they did, they would have laid down even more of a beating the Giants? Here's hoping that all of the Eagles get and stay healthy this year.

If Osi was playing in that game, McNabb would have thrown it over his head to Westbrook to get burned....again....just like the first time. What a bunch of losers up there.

Desean is showing a lot of class and proving critics wrong. DJax could of talk about how weak the Giants are going to be with out Plax, how much of a girl Eli is, and how poor they will do this year. Don't worry Desean, I just said it for you!

Number of Giants' Super Bowl victories 3 Number of Eagles' Super Bowl victories 0 Eli's a girl? By what measure? He kept his composure enough to help defeat a team that was 18-0. I love D-Mac and the Eagles and I will bleed Eagle Green until the day I die, but stop with the trash talking until we win something.

Stop talking trash? Are you joking? The Giants started it (with that loud mouth talking total sh&t while standing on the sidelines) and we went in there twice in four weeks and buried them. Eli is absolutely NOTHING without a huge stand-out receiver. McNabb had ONE Pro Bowler (T.O. WITHOUT WES WELKER AND A SOLID O-LINE)and he went up against one of the best teams ever in New England in '04. F**k Eli Manning, Andrew. Let's see how those overrated d-bags do without their genius Defensive coordinator....oh, yeah....where did he learn his trade again????

About Rich Hofmann
Rich Hofmann arrived at the Daily News in 1980 for a job whose status was officially designated as "full-time, temporary." A senior at Penn at the time, he was hired to fill in on the copy desk during a staff illness. The notion of him covering the Eagles or being a columnist did not exist in anyone's imagination. It was supposed to be six weeks and out, but he never left. It is only one of the reasons why so many people have concerns about him as a potential house guest. Rich has blogged the postseasons of the Flyers and Eagles. E-mail Rich at hofmanr@phillynews.com
