Eagles' Celek a passenger in DUI crash

Eagles tight end Brent Celek was not injured in an early morning car crash in South Philadelphia.

Celek was one of four passengers in the car driven by Sean Glynn, 35, of Philadelphia, who was charged with driving under the influence after failing a field sobriety test, state police said.

Police said the 2012 Audi A8L was going too fast and spun out of control, crashing into a concrete carrier at the Packer Avenue off-ramp of I-95 at around 2:30 a.m.

In a statement issued through the Eagles, Celek said, "As far as the events of last night are concerned, the bottom line is I showed extremely poor judgment. I did not know that the person driving the car was over the legal limit, but that's not an excuse. I put my life in danger and was in a vehicle that put other people's lives in danger, and that's just not the way I operate. It will not happen again."

An Eagles spokesman said, "Thankfully, no one was injured and, to our knowledge, Brent is not facing any legal charges."

The other passengers, police said, were Steven Anterola, 26, of Aston; Scott Keenan, 38, of Philadelphia; and Nick Allen, of Big Rapids, Mich.

Celek, who turned 27 on Wednesday, caught 62 passes for 811 yards and five touchdowns last season, his fifth with the Eagles.
