With this evening's unveiling, no Eagles player will ever wear the No. 20.
Brian Dawkins' jersey was officially retired in a pre-game ceremony at the Headhouse Plaza inside Lincoln Financial Field.
"HALLELEJUAH!" Dawkins screamed to a packed house when he took the podium.
Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie introduced Dawkins, dressed in dark suit and green tie. Besides listing all of Dawkins' accomplishments during his 13 seasons with the Eagles, Lurie said that the recently-retired safety "showed us all how the game should be played."
Moments later a black curtain was pulled from the wall and Dawkins' No. 20 was revealed. It is situated next to Reggie White's No. 92.
"I will always be an Eagle in my heart and I will always, always look to represent this organization to best of my abilities," Dawkins told a raucous crowd.
Eagles co-owner Christina Lurie then unveiled a portrait of Dawkins.
Jeffrey Lurie wrapped up the brief ceremony by saying, "Now let's go crush the Giants." Dawkins will be honored at halftime of tonight's game against the Giants. He plans to address the crowd.
