Eagles first round draft pick Derek Barnett did not hide his excitement after hearing his name called by National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell at Thursday night's draft.

Taken by the Birds with the 14th pick in the first round, Barnett spoke with NFL Network's Deion Sanders on his way off the stage.

"I'm just getting started - I haven't even scratched my surface yet with my talent level," Barnett said. "I'm ready to get to work, and with a great organization. I can't wait."

Of course, Sanders - a longtime nemesis of Eagles fans from his years with the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins - couldn't help asking Barnett what he thinks of Philadelphia's passionate football fans.

Barnett was ready.

"I'm going to live up to expectations," he said. "I'm going to come in, play my role, and I know I'll get after the quarterback."
