Eagles add two more to the practice squad

The Eagles now have seven players on the practice squad after officially signing WR B.J. Cunningham and DT Frank Trotter.

Cunningham was a sixth-round pick by the Dolphins out of Michigan State. He's 6-foot-2, 215 pounds and was the Spartans' all-time leader in receptions and receiving yards. Trotter spent training camp and the preseason with the Eagles and finished with three sacks.

They join C Chase Beeler, TE Chase Ford, FB Emil Igwenagu, WR Marvin McNutt and LB Ryan Rau. All except Beeler spent the preseason with the Eagles.

It's good to see Ryan Rau on the PS, I agree with Brain Baldinger's
assessment of Rau: he is smart and quick @ reads. A lot like a
young Zach Thomas, but not having Zak's physical quickness.

I think, if the other LB potion: the one Jordan
and Rolle are fighting for, is getting BEAT again
all year by the wide 9's LB exposure, you may see
    Rau???

Im really glad they kept trotter and Rau on the PS. Both players have a long way to go, but both had a knoack for making plays.

I wonder if they bring kafka to the PS.. I hope not. I would never waste a spot on someone with such a low ceiling..PS should be players with real potential, who are a few years away from realizing that potential. We should have taken a flyer on Vontaze burfict late in the draft. Would have liked to see a runb stuffing specialist as a linebacker reserve. A big Body that can stuff wholes in the goal line or obvious rushing downs. I know its a passing league, but every team should have a run stuffing Levon Kirkland type as a reserve.

I cant believe with the dolphins wr issues they released cunningham, the kid can really play. He would have been someone for them to keep around, they have no clue. Not sure where he fits here but could develop into a slot receiver in a year or two.

He is in the Jason Avant mold of having a chiseled body and very dependable hands...His knack is finding holes in a zone defense, and I'm sure you're right in saying he'll learn the route responsibilities of a slot reeiver, in the advent of Avant getting hurt...He's not fast (4.59 at the Combine), but he looked very comfortable in the "Gauntlet" drill at the Combine...He WAS Kirk Cousins' fave at MSU, which meant he caught everything.

Burfict made the Bengals 53 man roster. He actually had a very good preseason.

Rau needs to be playing. All he does is make plays, over and over...always around the ball.If he gets picked off the practice squad I'll be pissed.

I agree. Rau should be playing. Wouldn't be surprised if he isn't on the team by the bye week.

I too was impressed with Rau, it will be interesting to see him develop. He looks like a good candidate to play the MLB position for us one day.

Kafka isn't practice squad eligible, but I think someone will pick him up at some point this season. I am a little surprised the eagles didn't sign a young qb for their practice squad.

pking222 - ummm ... I believe they already have a young QB ... 22 y.o. guy named Foles, Nick Foles.

Why exactly would they want to waste a practice squad place on another young QB???

Cunningham was a good college receiver, but I remember him as not looking quick or fast enough for the pros. McNutt seems better.

    Stanford. He was Luck's center.

Why is Dallas Reynolds on the roster?? The Eagles need LB's safetys and taller WR , so why are we signing FB's and WR????

He's the backup center, as Vandevelde's gaffe in game #3 may have led to him losing his job, althought the brass thought they'd keep him (bucs scooped him up)...Reynolds is a surprise,as he's logged mega time on the Practice Squad...Thus the reason to secure a natural center (Chase Beeler) waiting in the wings and learning schemes on the PS.

I'm kind of bummed that Gilyard and Brackett were cut but the practice squad looks good...real good. GO BIRDS!
