Eagles-Seawhawks predictions

POSTED: Thursday, December 1, 2011, 12:57 PM

Here is the rundown of prediction for tonight's Eagles-Sehawks game from the Daily News:

LES BOWEN

Who knows?

And maybe more pertinent, who cares?

If the Eagles still do, they should win, but anybody with any confidence in this team’s focus and desire coming off that New England loss is an optimist indeed.

The Birds’ defensive line, the most consistent part of the operation, ought to be able to get to Tarvaris Jackson, and key on Marshawn Lynch. If Vince Young can stop underthrowing DeSean Jackson, and Andy Reid and Marty Mornhinweg remember they employ LeSean McCoy, the Eagles should be able to score enough points to win, if that really means anything at this point.

An Eagles loss, on the other hand, might go further toward defining the future beyond this season.

Prediction: Eagles, 20-16

VEGAS VIC

Raise your hand if when the NFL schedule was released you thought this would be a matchup of 4-7 teams. OK, I see no one with a hand up. No one! What started out as a season with enormous promise for the Birds has turned into a nightmare. Right now the Eagles trail the Cowboys and the wild-card teams by three games, and with all the injuries, a fourth straight playoff appearance looks like a real longshot. Michael Vick will miss another game, Jeremy Maclin is out, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is gone, LeSean McCoy is questionable and who knows where DeSean Jackson’s mind will be tonight. Seattle ain’t exactly ripping the covers off the rest of the NFL, but the Seahawks have been a money-maker at home, covering nine of the last 15. And we’re thinking that Pete Carroll will look to pay back Vince Young for that crushing defeat in the National Championship game.

Prediction: Seahawks, 24-22

Also:

Ed Barkowitz: Eagles, 24-13

Bill Conlin: Eagles, 23-21

Paul Domowitch: Eagles, 27-17

Marcus Hayes: Eagles, 24-17

John Smallwood: Eagles, 24-17

After all the cows left the barn, the Eagles turn it on. Eagles, 123-3.

The Eagles will win just enough to save Reid's job. Win this week and then they split the remaining 4 to go 7-9 for the season. The Tonner would like to see a new coach come in here but he isn't holding his breath. The Tonner hopes he's wrong.

I think the defense will show up strong this game. If that happens, the Eagles will win even if Young has 2 turn-overs or less.

3 days rest flying cross country to Seattle with all of these injuries. The Seahawks are a stone-cold mortal lock. 27-10 Hawks.

My prediction? I'll be in bed sleeping by halftime. Birds lose in a snooze fest 16-13.

Not sure if I'm going to watch tonight's Eagles Christmas Special or not... "DeSean the short-armed reindeer". (my favorite Joe Conklin line of the week).

The only reason I'm going to watch this game is to hear what Rich, Deon, Steve, Warren, Kurt and Marshall have to say about the Eagles and of course to hear what the booth analysts are going to talk about to fill the time spent watching this game that means totally nothing. Hey, I'm just that curious!

+3 at home, bet the house on the Seahawks. They'll probably win outright.

frank105, If the Seahawks are a Terrible team, where does that place the Eagles? A loss at home to the Arizona Cardinals? What a bunch of gutless winders. Totally inexcusable to lose a game like that at home when their season could have still been salvaged.
