Eagles running back LeSean McCoy, who just finished his fifth season in the NFL, was on ESPN's First Take Monday morning and made it quite clear who he thinks is the best in the league at his position.

"Yes, sir," McCoy said when asked if he was the NFL's top rusher.

"My brother always rips me all the time," McCoy added, "trying to make me play harder. I say, 'I'm the best,' and he'll say, 'Did Adrian Peterson retire?' I look at the last three years and everything. I think AP has been the best back for so long, and he's been doing it for so long, that's why he automatically gets the best running back [title]."

"But the last three years? I've been All-Pro, first-team, twice. I never leave the field. I block. I catch. I never leave the field. I don't have anybody do my job; I do it myself. Tons of credit goes out to Adrian Peterson. I'm a big fan of his, for sure. But I feel I'm the best."

Grading the Eagles' draft picks

McCoy has a pretty strong case.

In 2013, his first season under Chip Kelly, McCoy had a career-high and NFL-leading 1,607 rushing yards and nine touchdowns to go with 539 receiving yards and two more touchdowns.

Over the last five years, McCoy is fifth in the NFL in yards from scrimmage with 7,600 yards. Only Ray Rice (8487y), Chris Johnson (8480y), Adrian Peterson (8318y), and Matt Forte (7870y) have more.

While McCoy isn't at the top of that list, when you look at just running backs that are 26 and younger, McCoy is second is rushing yards over the last five season to only Ray Rice. Furthermore, Shady is third among running backs with 4.76 yards per attempt (minimum 750 carries) and is one of only four running backs to average 50 receptions per season.

When you narrow it down to the last three years, which was something McCoy made sure to point out, moves up to third in rushing yards ... and is 2+ years younger than any of the other players in the top five.

McCoy can easily argue that he is the best in the league, but I'm sure Vikings fans will have plenty to say about his latest claim.
