Eagles-Jaguars report card

Here are Paul Domowitch's grades for the Eagles-Jaguars game. Click here to make your grades and look for the results in Tuesday's Daily News.

RUN OFFENSE: The Eagles didn't run the ball a lot, but did a pretty good job when they did, particularly if you factor in Mike Vick, who had a nifty 17-yard TD run. LeSean McCoy averaged 5 yards per carry in the first three quarters, thanks mainly to an 18-yard run up the gut out of a three wide-receiver set. Mike Bell failed to pick up a first down on a pair of back-to-back short-yardage runs in the second quarter. Grade: B

PASS OFFENSE:
Mike Vick recorded his third straight 100-plus passer rating, which is a career-first for him. His completion percentage (54.8) wasn't great, but he threw three touchdown passes, including 45- and 61-yarders to Jeremy Maclin and DeSean Jackson, and no interceptions. The offensive line gave up three sacks, but did a much better overall job of pass-protection than the first 2 weeks. Grade: A-minus

RUN DEFENSE: With Stewart Bradley back in the middle and the Eagles getting penetration from their front four, Maurice Jones-Drew was held to 3.7 yards per carry in the first three quarters. He had a nice 17-yard cutback-run on his second carry and a 12-yarder in the second quarter, but was a non-factor the rest of the time. Grade: A

PASS DEFENSE: The Eagles sacked David Garrard six times, though three of them came in the fourth quarter after they were up 28-3. Garrard was under duress most of the game and completed 13 of 30 passes for just 105 yards and no touchdowns. It was the first time the Eagles held an opponent without a TD pass since Week 1 of last season.
Grade: A-plus

SPECIAL TEAMS: The only real blemish on the performance of the coverage teams was a 41-yard first-quarter punt return by Mike Thomas. Jorrick Calvin got his first opportunity to return punts and averaged 10.3 yards per return, doing an impressive job of making the first man miss. Ellis Hobbs had a 46-yard kick return. Punter Sav Rocca had three more 50-plus yard boots. Grade: B-plus

OVERALL: Eagles' defense withstood the heat, shut down Maurice Jones-Drew and put constant pressure on QB David Garrard, holding a team without a TD for the first time since Week 17 of the '08 season. Andy Reid's controversial decision to stick with Mike Vick looked pretty good after the QB recorded his third straight 100-plus passer rating and threw 3 touchdown passes and ran for another. Grade: A
