DeSean Jackson fires back at media

POSTED: Tuesday, August 21, 2012, 2:23 PM

Warning: Strong Language

Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson was questioned by ESPN's Lisa Salters last night about whether or not he gave his full effort last season while playing in a contract year.

He told Salters, and the national television audience, this: "I let it get to me, even though I tried not to let it. I was trying to protect myself from getting hurt -- now I'm just giving it all."

So if he is now giving it his all, what was he giving last year?

Many writers and media outlets posed this same question, and Jackson took offense.

Take a look at what he posted on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon:

He was trying to not get hurt. He said it himself, no word twisting.

Flyers1000 the whole team had a bad season last year. Vick missed some games. Vince Young was popping up worse than JRoll. Let it go, and worry about the Flyers defense.

Yeah, he's a pain in the @$$ but the cheers are deafening when he scores a touchdown. And opposing teams hate him more than the bandwagon fans here.

Interesting that JRoll made the same excuse last week when not attempting to run up the baseline and the call of rhis head was deafening while here ... its ok? I see a few people here at least see the comparison. To me, niether is any better or worse. Its just funny that D-Jax continues to get leeway even through all of his stupidity.

Listen even though they make way more money then most of us football is still his job and if your employer was messing with your money there is a slight chance it could affect your performance also. I believe he wanted to do the right thing last year but his mind was elsewhere..... thats all he was trying to state to Lisa Salter!!! love my city and love my team but some of you fans dont use common sense.

DJax's inability to see the flaws in his own logic pretty much tells you all you need to know.

Are you people kidding..he was paid to do a job last year and decided it wasnt worth it to him.....If you or I did that on our jobs we would be gone not rewarded.....he let his teamates..the fans..and his coach down last year..he had a contract and decided not to live up to it....if thats the kind of players you want on your team then thats why this team will never win..the Vicks...Jacksons....are not winners and never will be..Look how McCoy handled himself...like a PRO..keep making excuses for this guy and watch what he does this year. First sign of things going bad for the Eagles and he will be whining and quitting.

Give it up. You are comparing apples to oranges. You have a job that practically anybody on earth could do. Jackson has a job where only a select few can do.

Geez, no wonder I love the Flyers as the best, most unselfish players in professional sports. Our team, to a man, would play with a broken foot or ankle, one eye, if it was team first. There is no "ME" in hockey, well, maybe Cindy and the Penqueens, but not the Flyers. From J-Stroll to DeMe Jackson, it's disgusting to see any half-hearted effort when they make millions. Flyers season and Hockey can't start soon enough for me.

Flyers1000: 1. McCoy never had to through what Jackson did. McCoy may have handled himself in the same way if he didn't get the new contract in May. He may have been the same distraction and possibly held out. 2. Don’t compare a football player to another profession like maybe you or I may have. Jackson was getting peanuts compare to receivers that were way less productive then him. Hey, but it’s nice to know that if someone else got paid 20 times more than you for the same job and was less productive, you would be satisfied with that.
