In a recent interview with 97.5 The Fanatic, Andrews said he was "disgusted" by the way McNabb treated him during his time with the Eagles.
“Unbelievable, man. Unbelievable," McNabb said. "You know what? When my name gets brought up, it’s a lightning rod. And for me and this whole bullying situation right now, it’s a sensitive topic, and one that, that I don’t agree with."
“For everything that I’ve been questioned for in Philadelphia," McNabb continued, "and then now you come out and say, you point the finger directly at me, like I’m the one that’s ruined your career?”
Andrews also called out McNabb specifically in an interview with Sync Weekly. The former NFL offensive lineman said “McNabb was a big part of it — he was a big part of my issues [in Philadelphia]."
"Bully is a strong word," Andrews went on, "but he was degrading to me and spread rumors."
McNabb responded to those accusations also:
“Why would I want to talk bad to others that are out there and then question your sexuality? Does that make sense to you at all? And why is this coming out now? It’s unbelievable. I just talked to a reporter from Philadelphia, and I’m just like, ‘Are you serious? Why don’t you just talk to the rest of the teammates and find out what’s going on.’”
On Andrews addressing the team about his prolonged absence:
“I don’t remember it vividly, uh, but from, I guess, what he mentioned it was about his depression. And one in which I didn’t know he was depressed. You know, I knew he spent some time away before we got together at training camp, where he missed a few weeks of training camp, if I do recall. But he explained that he had a lot on his mind, or, you know, I don’t remember it vividly. We knew that Shawn had some things going on in his life.”
On Andrews’ claim that McNabb needed a lot of attention:
“Really? ... So see this is the thing, there’s no need to go into it, but it’s unbelievable to me that this would come up from any of the guys, especially that protected me when I’ve done everything I can to protect them and be there for them.”
