DeSean injures left ankle

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- DeSean Jackson injured his left ankle during Friday afternoon's practice and did not return, the Eagles said.
The wide receiver went down during a seven-on-seven drill in which he was sandwiched in between safeties Kurt Coleman and Jaiquawn Jarrett. Jackson was slow to get up and then walked to the trainer's tent. He had his left ankle tapped and returned to the action, but he did not play.
Jackson was later asked if he was OK and he gave a thumbs up.
The Eagles had an assortment of other bumps and bruises during Thursday's session but every other player finished. Guard Danny Watkins made a brief stop in the trainer's tent to get his ankle tapped. Defensive end Vinny Curry made a pit stop in the tent.
The Eagles have lost a number of players to injury since last Saturday when Andy Reid starting live hitting at practice. Defensive end Jason Babin (calf), defensive end Trent Cole (shoulder), tackle Todd Herremans (shoulder), safety Nate Allen (hamstring), tight end Brent Celek (knee), safety O.J. Atogwe (groin), and linebacker Jamar Chaney (hamstring) did not practice this afternoon.
Guard Evan Mathis missed his second day of practice because of an ear infection.
Defensive tackle Fletcher Cox was excused from Thursday's practice for personal reasons.
The Eagles worked out Ayanga Okpokowuruk, a defensive end from Duke this afternoon.
There might not be enough players left to fill theoster at this pace. What good does playing through do, when it's not even the pre-season yet? Andy & Co. need to turn it down a bit and let guys recover. Joyner80
I don't get this either. the live hitting is obviously of benefit but come on, andy! He is unbelievably stubborn and won't change direction no matter what the circumstances. We have seen that it so many games. Gives me angina!!! YorklovestheIggles
Just wait...a key starter (or more than one) is going to sustain a serious injury and end up on IR just from these practice drills. Happens every year. SteveS11- It always seems like a scrub like J.J. End up hurting our superstars
Tapped is the past tense of tap. Taped is the past tense of tape. It's wrong twice. TVGuy22
I feel like if this were the regular season those injuries wouldn't keep the guys out of action, aside from babin. Omorales510
Do other NFL teams have all these injuries? fanup
What did they tap his ankle with? lonewolf 10
reid has them hitting so early that by time the season comes they have forgotten how to do it! swgaston49
If it wasn't his ankle it would be something else. I mean the guy's got toothpicks for legs and string beans for arms. His tattoo artist must use his arms to tattoo needles. Geno D
FRA-GEE-LAY...oh, must be Italian!
No, I think that says 'fragile', honey. Zero
This article is so poorly written and fraught with miss information. How does the first sentence jive with the second paragraph. Fletcher Cox was NOT excused from Thursday's practice. I was there, and saw him participate in the entire practice. The Jeff and Zach show is a joke. GoBirds!!!! gobirds17- It looks like the excuses for this season are lining up perfectly. GJK3161
That's what happens when you read a blog and not an actual article....no editer (hehe) Curse of Billy Penn
You guys will find any reason to complain about the Eagles. Were you complaining when they won all those division titles by doing the same training routines? Preseason starts next week. If you don't practice now, then when? Injuries come with the territory. Look around the league, they are plentiful even without the live hitting. penncrow19
