It looks like I picked the wrong day to drive to and from Penn State to speak to my old sportswriting class.

Lots of rumors floating around, and I think we have at least a little bit of new information.

Let's start with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch column by Bryan Burwell. The line that got everyone buzzing was this one:

According to more than one well-informed source, the Rams have had intense internal conversations with the Philadelphia Eagles about a trade for Pro Bowler Donovan McNabb.

As the fine folks over at Eagletarian pointed out earlier, that statement doesn't make sense. Were they internal conversations? Or were they conversations with the Eagles?

Turns out they were the former.

Burwell joined Mike Gill of The Sports Bash on 97.3 ESPN Radio in South Jersey and said those were not his words. His copy editor screwed up.

"I hate to do this, but my copy desk screwed up my copy," Burwell said. "I did not say that the Philadelphia Eagles and the Rams were having intense conversations. What I wrote... and I just noticed it while I'm reading my column now and I went 'Holy crap. I didn't say that.' What I initially wrote was that the Rams were having intense internal conversations about acquiring Philadelphia Eagle Donoavn McNabb. There's a difference between having intense internal conversations with the Eagles and having internal intense conversation."

So whether you put stock in the report or not, Burwell is saying the Rams have had internal discussions about McNabb, not discussions with the Eagles.

Quick comment on this. I've heard many suggest McNabb would never agree to an extension with a losing team like the Rams. And no team is going to give up valuable draft picks to rent McNabb for a year.

But I disagree on the first point. Do you really think McNabb would rather come back to a team that doesn't want him than go somewhere and get a fresh start? If the price and contract terms are right, he would agree to an extension with just about any team in the league if the Eagles went to him and said they were interested in dealing him. Just my opinion there.

The other item floating around is Michael Vick saying he wants to play for the Panthers. I actually listened to the interview yesterday and thought about writing about it, but held back. It seemed to be such a non-chalant answer. He likes the uniforms? C'mon. Let's not put too much stock into that one.

Adam Schefter, however, seems convinced that the Eagles are giving serious consideration to holding on to Vick.

"They're planning to bring back Michael Vick for another season in Philadelphia despite the fact that many thought the Eagles would trade him this offseason," Schefter said on SportsCenter. "The indications right now are that they plan to keep him and that Michael Vick will not be going anywhere. They have a lofty sense of his value. They think he's worth a lot. They think he's worth more than other teams think he's worth. So right now, with no trade in sight, it looks like the Eagles will pick up the option. They will bring back Michael Vick."

The Eagles have long been rumored to overvalue their assets in trade discussions, but I'd still be surprised if he came back next season as the third quarterback. Then again, I was pretty surprised when they signed him in the first place.

Ok, that's all for now. Hope to get something else up a little later though so check back.

Internet and media waves are crazy nowadays....Vick gives an off-the-cuff answer about liking the Panthers' uniforms and the whole sports world is turning it into a circus. I guess some will say it comes with the territory of being a pro-athlete and that they always have to be careful of what comes out of their mouth, but com'n, he can't joke every now and again. And McNabb to the Rams has gained more momentum than a fat man at a buffet line with ten arms and empty plates in all of them. It's all so entertaining.

'Intense internal conversation' was a stupid string of words to begin with, no wonder his copy editors messed it up. Way to throw them under the bus, Burwell. 'Intense internal conversation'...ha! And the guy gets paid to write.

I can see the Rams trading their 2nd round pick plus future picks for McNabb. Then they'll select Bradford and let him learn slowly for two or three years. The Rams are feeling the pressure to win now. They need a good quality veteran QB now. It makes sense. I think the Eagles would pull the trigger on a deal like that if another team doesn't make a better offer by the draft.

I heard the same thing about Mcnabb to Rams. Supposedly it is true that the Rams are not happy with the current crop of quarterbacks coming out of college, and would be willing to roll the dice with McNabb to fill some seats.

The Eagles are not going to keep McNabb, Vick and Kolb. If they are going to keep Vick, it would have to be as a veteran backup for Kolb, with McNabb gone. Hey, I would settle for getting whatever we can for McNabb and letting Vick and Kolb battle for the job. I'd rather either one of them over Donovan, who we know can not win the big game.

Yeah, why would McChump agree to go to a team that loses? After all, his MO is to take a team to the Super Bowl and win it all. That's why he's stuck around here for 11 years. right? Ability to win "the big one"? Big time performances in big time games, right?

2 of 3 QBs stay. Vick stays if #5 is traded.

Unless he has a no trade clause then he wouldnt have much say where he plays...

Dish Kevin Kolb off to Cleveland or St Louis for some great picks this year. Give him a chance to start. Keep Vick & MacNabb And get another QB in the draft. One that can run and throw.

Sheil Kapadia aside, the Burwell article was an interesting and well-written article compared to our Philly brethren. Sure the Eagles would love to keep the leash on vick for another season as the offensive "weapon x", but not for 5.6 mill

Bleue, how long you been waiting to use the "fat man in a buffet" line? A couple days? Weeks? No matter, you probably stole that from your brother at some point. And Sheil, don't ever worry about not being the first to report rumors. You do a good to great job on analysis, being the first to report rumors is for insecure reporters, and you are well above that.

You guys Eagles will not trae Mcnabb for a 2nd. They want a 1st minimum, and I don't know that they will get it.

McNabb only fits into a mature team that has a chance to win now, like the Vikings taking on Favre for a run at the title. If you have a young team, you might as well break in a young QB to grow with them. Taking on an aged QB with a young team means that when they are ready for a run, you have a QB who is past his peak. McNabb is not ready to be the tutor for a young QB.
