Throughout training camp, we'll look at different Eagles who could make history during the 2012 season. First up, Michael Vick.

Eagles coach Andy Reid has always recognized the importance of having a star quarterback, dating back to when he made Donovan McNabb the team’s top pick in Reid’s first NFL Draft in 1999.

And for all of the team’s success since, including five NFC Championship game appearances and one Super Bowl showing, the Eagles still stand alone--in the wrong way--when it comes to quarterbacks and Super Bowl titles.

The Eagles are the only NFL team without a single-season 4,000-yard passer in team history nor a Super Bowl title among teams in existence since Super Bowl I.

The other teams without 4,000-yard passers either won a title (Chicago and Tampa Bay) or haven’t been around since Super Bowl I (Seattle).

As unrelated as they may seem, the two targets go hand-in-hand this season for the Eagles. If Michael Vick stays healthy and plays in all 16 games, the Eagles figure to be a Super Bowl contender.

And if he’s healthy, Vick will be in the hunt for topping 4,000 passing yards. He needs to average just 250 passing yards in 16 games to reach 4,000.

Vick has topped that average in both of his Eagles seasons, averaging 254 yards in 13 games in 2011 when he finished with 3,303, and 251 yards in 2010 when he ended up with 3,018.

Considering a record-tying 10 different quarterbacks threw for 4,000 yards last season — including three for more than 5,000 yards—it might be time for Vick and the Eagles to join the club.
