Bell Signs Sheet with Birds

The Eagles have tendered an offer sheet for a 1-year contract with restricted free agent running back Mike Bell, agent Josh Luchs confirmed this evening. The agreement was first reported by Adam Caplan of Scout.com.

Luchs said Bell gets a $500,000 guarantee and a $1.7 million base for the deal, which he said could be worth $2 million with incentives. The Saints have seven days to match, but they could have tendered Bell at the second-round level and paid him about what the Eagles are offering, with no guarantee. They chose not to do that, so it would be a mild surprise if they stepped up now.

"Mike's going from one Super Bowl-caliber team to another," Luchs told your Eagletarian. "Obviously, the Eagles have decided they want to punish tacklers."

Luchs noted that this is the first offer sheet to go out in restricted free agency this year, despite a lot of talk about the large restricted market.

Below, you'll find an embedded YouTube video in which Saints coach Sean Payton is upset after Bell slips on a goalline run at the end of the first half of the Super Bowl. I just watched it for the first time myself -- I've heard it described as Payton yelling at Bell for wearing the wrong cleats. That's only partly true. Payton obviously is annoyed that Bell isn't wearing "screw-ins," but he seems to be directing that anger more at the team equipment guy. Then, at the end, perhaps remembering he's wearing a mike, Payton proclaims "that's my fault."

With the Eagles, my impression has always been that the equipment manager dictates the footwear for each game, and that everybody wears the same length cleats. Maybe that isn't true everywhere.

In other news, former Eagles safety Sean Jones has reportedly agreed to a deal with Tampa Bay. Jones also visited Tennessee.

Why does everything have to have a negative spin when discussing the Eagles? The Eagles will probably sign Bell and Les brings up a play when Bell slipped. C'mon folks, yes, it's good to be see the Eagles in a critical, objective way but all the negativity is ridiculous. They went 11-5 last season not 5-11.

Unless he's had a recent ACL tear, the Eagles should avoid signing him at all cost (sarcasm)

Until they address the Defense (nice job so far) and the O-line (wow, even better), this team will go nowhere. The fraud management/coach over at No-Care need to go.

It was Bell coming off the field he's yelling at #21. At the end of the clip, it was Bush #25 standing there. Either way, this video has no place in a "news" site. If this goes through, good signing. He's a nice player, should compliment McCoy well.

Watch the video. He yells at Bell as Bell is walking away from him. Then he says something to Bush but isn't yelling at him. There's plenty of other things to criticize about this article. All the nonsense the philly fans get for being negative is from the media. Then the "media" writes something like this. Unless he gets arrested? Why would anybody write something like that? Ridiculous. Is this the sports page or the comedy cabaret? One thing for sure, this clown is definitely a joke.

"Avoids getting arrested during his visit"? What's that all about? Does this guy have some history we don't know about. If ss, God knows the forever negative Philadelphia media would have made us well aware of it by now.

NAGADELPHIA's finest strikes again. To entice a free agent RB to sign here we post a youtube video of him getting chewed out by the coach. Classic. Keep up the good work it's not like there are any positive stories in the entire sport world. I bet if he does sign we criticize his pass blocking and pass catching next. Then we call him a choke artist and say he's undeserving of the love from NAGADELPHIA NATION.
    Nothing but the truth
