Andy Reid's endorsement of Michael Vick nearly identical to Monday's endorsement of Juan Castillo

Andy Reid's endorsement of quarterback Michael Vick as his starting quarterback was just as strong as his Monday endorsement of Juan Castillo as his defensive coordinator. And we all saw that turned out.
Asked if Michael Vick will start against the Falcons, Reid sald: "As I sit here today, he's the starting quarterback."
On Monday, when he was asked if Castillo would still make the defensive playcalls, "that’s the way I’m looking at it as I stand right here.”
Reid said Tuesday that he's "looking at everything," an indication that Vick could still lose his job to Nick Foles. When Reid was told his answer about Vick could make fans believe he's considering a change, Reid understood.
"I'm just telling the truth," Reid said. "That's what I'm saying to you. Right now, Michael Vick is the starting quarterback."
Vick has 13 turnovers this season and has been the one of the main reasons why the Eagles offense is struggling. Reid started the Tuesday news conference announcing Castillo's dismissal by stating that "this one of of the moves." He said he'll continue to look at everything -- players, coaches, offense, defense special teams. The starting quarterback might be next.
"All I can tell you today is what I've got down today," Reid said, "and you can take it however you have to take it."
Reid needs to realize they are not a good football team in any aspect of the game! fafink
People who are on here ripping Vick, saying he should be the next to go.. Wrong! Andy Reid should be the next to go and should have been gone! Vick isn't the one who decided to NOT RUN THE FOOTBALL!!!. He's getting CREAMED back there. Vick gets hit when he hands the ball off to Shady for crying out loud. RUN THE DAMN BALL and slow down the Defense! Keep them off balance for ONCE!!.
Bring in John Gruden! brinks69
Have seen Foles play 3 times, he was all Arizona had, and he scared the snot out of some very good Oregon Teams. Foles plays with the mindset of coach Marty and Mudd, the three would all be on same page. Eagles coaches have to adapt to Vick, and play a different game, or move on to Foles. camasbud
Andy seeing season slipping, positioning himself not to be fired. Eventually benching Vick, playing Foles with the hope that Foles shows promise and plays well. Goes to Jeffrey, says "give me some more time with this kid, look at his progress." Jeffrey ponders and agrees, and Reid talks his way into staying around a little longer. Just wait and see. Andy is the hypnotist, don't forget. watsonmr
Soulless soul man... Question.. How is benching Vick and putting in the kid going to help the offense. I like this Foles kid. Why would you put him behind that offensive line and destroy his confidence. He still has a future. If Vick has demonstrated anything it is that he doesnt give up. And thats a trait Mcnabb and alot of quarterbacks didnt have. This move to get rid of Juan happened too late. It should have happened before training camp. Glad Reid is ready to make changes to make the team better. The next one should be turning this into a team that passes off the run to set up play action so he can hit those down field passes. And to implement a true west coast offense that relies on timing patterns and short strikes that create yard after the catch situations. If they do that they might be able to save the season. But dont put in the rookie if you care about him and dont want him developing bad habits because he is getting his ash whipped. Zeru
Some of you clearly never played past pee-wee. If you did you would blame Vick but also the terrible O-line, play calling and Shady who is a liability in pass protection. Guess you experts failed to notice how many times Shady misses a LB or blocks the wrong man. And you say Foles is the answer after "preseason" stardom. Too funny tony11
There's a difference between what Reid said about Castillo and what he said about Vick. When he spoke of Castillo, he was standing. When he spoke of Vick, he was sitting. Gotta keep track of these nuances. Dave Clemens
Hey, plenty of rookie QB's are playing BETTER than the $100 million fraud Vick....RG111, Andrew Luck beat the Packers, Russell Wilson and the kid in Miami are all playing BETTER than the fraud Vick...Nick Foles will also. Bob112- Vick is poison. He is by far the worst decision Reid has made in his tenure in Philly. While Vick is a great athlete, he is a very mediocre quarterback judged as a whole. How Reid fooled himself into believing Vick had changed from his history in the NFL is mystifying. Perhaps hubris is the explanation - Reid believed he could coach up Vick and change his patterns though no other coach ever could. Whatever the explanation, Vick is the stake through Reid's heart. Reid's only chance for redemption is if Foles can perform a miracle and get them into the playoffs. The bye gives Reid time to make that change. Whether Reid can bring himself to make this obvious decision is the question.
I agree.....Vick is by far the worst decesion Reid has made with the Eagles....it was just stupid giving Vick $100 million after spending two years in prison...Vick was a terrible passer even in his prime, and it was dumb to sign him after two years in prison for this team that throws the ball 50 times per game. Bob112
Nothing against Foles, he may be the future. But, to say Vick is Andy's worse decision is...I'll be nice. Every week defenses talk about how their worried about Vick. Why? Because if his coach stops being predictable he'll excel. The Giants said they hoped Foles would play for a reason. tony11
Preseason people! Foles was facing vanilla defenses, 2d or 3d stringers. Throwing him into games against 1st teamers, exotic schemes and blitzes? With this horrendous Oline? He will get creamed. Maybe Reid feels so fed up with Vick's erratic play, or that Foles has such a quick release and has made such rapid progress, that he can't do any worse. But Foles is not a fast enough runner to escape from rusher that will surely get past our awful linemen. Pick your poison I guess. JBirks
Plenty of rookies and 2nd year QB's are doing just fine in the NFL...RG111, Russell Wilson, Ponder, Luck, Cam Newton and others are all playing BETTER than the $100 million fraud Vick....and Nick Foles will also. Bob112
I am so sick of people blaming the offensive line for Vick's trouble fumbling and throwing picks. Teams know that when they blitz they can force Vick into making dumb decisions or they can strip the ball from his tissue paper hands. So they blitz — bring one more person than there are blockers — and he obliges them.
I'm OK with interceptions, they happen, but the fumbles, grrrr...I'd take Vick over Foles in a heartbeat without the fumbles. But because Vick can't seem to do that, see you friction' later Mike. tdmarquis
If the Eagles are truly a good football team like Reid believes they are and Reid himself is as good a coach as he believes he is, then we should emerge from the bye week all fixed up and every player placed in a position to win from here on out. Isn!t this the jive we here during every one of his press conferences? fafink
