Andy Reid: Resigning 'would be a cop out'

POSTED: Monday, November 19, 2012, 1:14 PM

Should Andy Reid “cop out” and step down?
Yes.
No.

Eagles coach Andy Reid said Monday that there is not a scenario in which he would resign as head coach.

"I'm standing in front of the team and saying these are the things we need to do, one of which is we need to battle," Reid said. "I think [resigning] would be a cop out. That's not how I see things. That's now how I'm wired. I'm not going to tell them one thing and do the other."

At 3-7 and with a six-game losing streak, Reid acknowledged that the Eagles "are letting the fans down, letting the city down." He said he knows how the fans and city feel and would not make excuses for the record. He pointed to turnovers on offense and big plays on defense as a reason for the team's continued losing ways.

"You control what you can control," Reid said. "That's getting better as a football team. That's what my emphasis is. Become a better coach, make sure I'm putting my guys in the right position to make plays, make sure my staff is doing the right things there. That's where all my emphasis is and I don't put my emphasis past that."

Reid also relayed the disappointment level from team owner Jeffrey Lurie, who has not spoken publicly about Reid's status since the preseason.

"He's a competitive guy. Nobody wants to win more than Jeffrey," Reid said. "He's disappointed. I'll tell you that. Rightly so. He feels the same way we do, that we're letting people down in this city."

So your saying Andy is staying so we can get a really high draft pick for Howie to pick un undersized player with a high motor.

Andy ... Don't fret ... we would all refer to your resigning as a blessing! We are totally sick of you and your offensive coordinator as are the players, who verbally say they love you, then knife you in the back on Sundays.
Resign, spend Thanksgiving with your family, and take some time to grieve over the loss of your son. Family should be your focus for awhile istead of football.

The reality is Andy Reid has to do. I think the defense are silently protesting the firing of Juan so this is why their play has become more horrible!!!!!!

you know if we gotta put up with six more weeks of embarrasment, then so should andy reid, but only under jeff lurie calling the shots that matter such as who should be the starting quarterback when vick gets healthy.i can understand the reason he would stay.remember how rick pitino got called a quitter for bailing out on his team by his own players in atlanta when he quit before the season ended.

I make a trade. Flex out the Eagles Monday night game with a real team and I won't post how Andy should get fired the rest of this year. The perfect storm of embarrassment for our town and team is one short week away.

If AR quit what would that say about him? He would capitulate...but it might say - I realize that I am unable to do as well as I used to, that I am burned out, that I am making decisions that put my team at risk, e.,g. Sean McCoy and Foles, and that because I have had some personal trials this year I could not really concentrate on the team that has been so loyal to me. Because of this...I am stepping down. It is that easy Andy...and for the sake of your team, the players, their families, and yes, even the fans, it is time for you to man up and say you are taking a leave of absence or stepping down.

Instead of wasting time being yelled a by a BEDPAN (most likely a full one), take a few moments to send a picture of Nixon to AReid.
Hopefully he will get the message.

Drafting busts like Daniel Teo Neishim, Jawann Jarrett, Danny Watkins, Curtis Marsh, Trevor Laws and Brian Smith have finally caught up to the Eagles.

Reid needs to start holding these players feet to the fire. Stop treating them like friends and make them work. Take money away that's the only thing they understand. Watch them play if you take money away. Take a hard line on these clowns.
